3rd sleep study results

Post by galilee416 » Tue Jun 28, 2005 5:16 pm

OK - went for my 3rd sleep study and my results came back that I have idiopathic hypersomnolence. My Dr. gave me Provigil and I took 1/2 a pill today. I already exercise regularly, but about 2 weeks before the results came back, I began working out WAY harder. It cut down my sleepiness dramatically. (I only weigh 180lbs). So I'll keep working out and the Provigil worked pretty well today. Anyone had any experience with this condition?

I haven't even heard of it, but it certainly got me thinking and I looked at the page by the company that manufactures it.

Sounds like me on the test that they have. I scored a 20, and ten is all that is needed to talk to your doctor about it. Next visit, I am on this like a chicken on a june bug.

Well, during the study you stay overnight (obviously) and they recheck your titration. That was all OK, so on paper I slept great. But felt horrible after I woke up. The next day you take several naps in 2 hour intervals. You wake at 6am, then take your naps at 8,10 ,12 2, & 4. Well, they give you 15 minutes to fall asleep every 2 hours. The average person is asleep within 10-15 min. My average was 3.9 minutes. If you sleep, they let you go until the 15 minute mark and then wake you up. 2 hours later you do it all over again. (I had a monster headache by the time I left there) It was a relief to finally have something documented showing how exhausted I have been. If anyone has questions about this test, I will answer any and all. Just post'm on this link so it can be shared by all!
I'm off to bed now folks - good night!
