Hello,
I have been using a CPAP for about 3 months now and am as tired as ever. During my study I had 24 "problems" an hour and my O2 dropped to about 87. Most were OSA, some were Central Sleep Apnea and some were mixed. My doctor put me on a CPAP (Remstart w/CFLEX) @ 14 psi.
When I first started using it, I felt a little better but nothing dramatic. After a couple weeks I felt like I was back to the way I was before CPAP therapy but my wife said she noticed a little improvement.
At my 30 day check-up with my Dr he said my body has probably just adjusted to the new energy and I am used to it that is why I feel like I was before. I don't buy it, because being tired and wanting to take a nap every day around 2pm is not normal!
I read another post with someone having similar problem and everyone suggested getting the pressure checked on the machine.
My question is, do I just need to give it more time, should I go back to the doctor to see if he can make an adjustment, or should I try to get an AutoPAP?
I would love to hear your suggestions, along with how long it took before you started feeling better.

It can easily take 6 months
You might want to try some other approaches and see if there
are other things keeping you awake. I had to kick the dog and
wife out of the room. I bought a White Noise machine, and
turned off every light source in the room. I had to start taking
Magnesium for restless legs right before bedtime, and also take
Melatonin. Not everyone slaps on the mask and gets instant
success. Think about ear plugs, or a different pillow. Maybe a
black sleep mask, or a nice dental device. Definitely need a
heated hose and humidifier. Keep trying or start dying.

I don't recommend things unless they have worked well for me. I take
300 mg of Magnesium at night to stop my leg dancing. It works for me!
I read about it on a couple of other forums. Then I read more about it in
some heart journal articles. Then I read more about it in two different
books. 1)The Miracle of Magnesium by Carolyn Dean and 2) The Magnesium Factor by Mildred Seelig. I have Mitral Valve Prolapse in my heart. My Heart
Doctor said Magnesium will help that problem, as well. Some folks also
highly recommend leg muscle streches right before you go to bed. For me,
after taking Magnesium from WallMart, I don't have leg cramps either.
If it doesn't work for you, it will have only cost a couple of dollars to find
out. If it does work for you, my customary advice fee of $75 will be
expected.

I'd opt for trying an autopap. If you've not been having any difficulty exhaling against the pressure of 14 cm H2O you've been using, I'd ask for the Puritan Bennett 420E auto. If you think you'd like to have the relief of a drop in pressure each time you exhale, I'd ask for the Respironics REMstar Auto with C-Flex.My question is, do I just need to give it more time, should I go back to the doctor to see if he can make an adjustment, or should I try to get an AutoPAP?
jk, just a thought, but what do you eat for lunch and when do you have your lunch? If you're eating about 1 or so (or maybe even as early as noon) and feeling tired and sleepy by 2, your body may just be having a natural after lunch "crash". How do you feel in the late afternoon/early evening? What time do you get to bed to sleep and how long do you sleep? How is your energy at other times than around 2?
