Finally a reason for the Apnea

Post by Lee226 » Thu Sep 04, 2008 2:11 pm

Finally a direction to go in. Tramatic Myositis. Although I think this is going to be a longterm problem, what with the length of time it went without treatment. At least the painful arms and shoulder blade with muscle loss in that area and the ribcage can be explained. T'was probably this that gave me the problem of hyperventilation, the pain of it all, and set the wheels in motion for the metabolic O2/CO2 imbalance, which made the whole thing worse when the tissues got starved for oxygen.

I'm now getting random muscle spasms, mostly in the upper extremities, but last week it hit the left side of my body for about 3 minutes. I had some trigger pt shots in the blades and it has helped somewhat, but I know there are deeper spots the doc may not be able to do. We have changed meds a bit as well to deal with the increased spasms.

I have been having pain in my arms and shoulders. It is really bad. I have a lot of muscle cramps as well. Sometimes it gets so bad that I can't walk. and it is very hard to use my right arm. So this can be caused from apnea?

Nooooo, that's not what I said. Apnea would not (I don't beleive) cause this unless you simply have Idiopathic Myositis. Which could be from chronic overuse of the upper extremities as in exercise, bad posture, etc. This usually resolves itself within a few days of rest or readjusting your posture.
What I am talking about is the trauma of the MVA tore muscles, stretched tendons, nerves, blood vessels and arteries, and the fascia of the muscles. This all happening caused inflammation and fibrotic scarring of tissues. Suddenly, fast.

Have you been in some sort of accident prior to the aches, pain and spasms?

Ohhhhh Well I just assumed sense you said finally a reason for the apnea as the topic and then talked about the Tramatic Myositis. I guess I missunderstod what you were trying to say.

I have been in a couple when I was younger. My Neuro doc is going to do an MRI of my neck and head. So I am just waiting on that.

Well what sort of accidents? MVA? Bad falls? You know there are many things that can cause these types of pains. When you go to him, have him look at your back and see if there is any deformity in the muscle mass and perhaps scoliosis of the cervical region. This also showed up on a recent x-ray of my lower cervical area.

It is someone who posted from the same IP address that you did. Either they used your computer or another computer on the same network as yours. Occassionally I post from a network that has about 300 users and I can see that one or two other users have posted here.

The possibility that you have myositis nodules ( damaged muscles and fascial nodules) could well be the cause of some of your cramping problems. My Pain doctor has changed my meds a bit, the addition of vitamin D3, to go along with the Calcium Gluconate. I am being used as a guinea pig for this D3 thing he says, (hmm, thought I was that already) but we won't see much improvement for about 3 months, so I have my fingers crossed that this will help the whole situation.
