I just starting using the full face mask and I am having problems with air going down the wrong pipe. i wake up with major bloating pain and then pass gas for the next 2 hours to resolve.
Should I expect this to just go away?
Anything I can do to reduce or eliminate?
I have allergies and require the full face mask and don't think I can go to the nose device..

Re: New user..Air going down wrong pipe
Changing from a full face mask to a nasal mask probably wouldn't make any difference. Do you know if you have GERD? That has been a BIG problem for me since starting CPAP that I pretty much ignored before. Try an OTC acid reducer for awhile and see if that helps. I'm sure some others will chime in with more help, too.

Aerophasia! That's when the air gets into the stomach. Please fill in your profile with what machine and mask you use. Also let us know what pressure you're at. Some times as you adjust to xpap the aerophasia will resolve itself. Some times you need a pressure change. Do you have/use EPR or c-flex?

Re: New user..Air going down wrong pipe
I am having the same problem with at time severe pain in the abdomen in the morning. i don't have it every morning but once in a while is more than enough. I mean its painful. One more morning waking up with that pain and I am returning the machine for good. I have just been switched to a BIPAP and use a nasal mask with a chin strap that never stays in place. I may have to incorporate the tape sealing idea. i am about 8 months in to therapy at this point and still do not have a rhythm going nor am I feeling any better, sometimes worse. i really still do not feel rested and still get sleepy during the day.
Any suggestions from you veterans would be appreciated.
Thanks
