Current or former Mirage Micro Nasal users

Post by Cloud 9 » Sat Aug 30, 2008 6:09 pm

I have been thinking I would like to have a second mask as a backup.

I am currently using the Resmed Mirage Micro Nasal mask, of the type with the adjustment dial at the forehead assembly. This is my very first mask and I have no objections to it. It fits comfortably, seals well, and is vented in such a way as not to blow air where I don't want it. The hose swivel accomodates sleeping on my back or either side equally well.

My question is, has anyone found a particular mask that you like better? Am I missing out on something lighter or more comfortable?

From my observations, I can see that it can be a gamble when trying different masks, and I'm just trying to narrow the field before I order the next. Any words of wisdom in general are appreciated. Thanks!

The Resmed Mirage Micro is my second favorite mask. My very favorite is one of Respironics' oldest masks. It is a simple nasal cushion and I doubt there is another mask out there as lightweight as the Simplicity, my very favorite. But I'm in the minority. Very few people like it.

I have several mask that I am workng with right now. I did just get the micro mirage mask and do have a few problems with the mask staying put during the course of the night. I also have the symplicity mask which feels great but I cannot and have not gotten any kind of a seal with. My main mask is the comfort-get mask. A lot of people here don't like it BUT it works the best for me in reguards to sealing. It is very similar to the micro but is heavier than all of the above. I also own the profile-lite and that works pretty well also. The F/P 406 is a good fit too but again have problems keeping the seal. I just keep coming back to comfort-gel and may not have given some of these masks a long enough trial, but after a few nights of not so great sleep. I get frustrated. They all seem to fit well when I go to bed, but am waking up with leaks during the night. I have a small face and that is one of my problems. With comfort-gel and profile lite I use a petite and the others a small.

This is only my opinion and I am sure you will be given many more reply's with other board members experiences.
