POLL: CPAPtalk Login Menu On Right or Left Side?

Post by SleepPunk » Wed Aug 20, 2008 11:18 am

Hi All,

Chris Brown here with CPAPtalk. We have had some members suggest we swap the location of the Login Menu and User Contol Panel. So we figured the best way to decide would be to put it to a vote. I am giving 48 hours for members to vote on this. Whichever one has the most votes wins. Images below to assist you in making your decision. #1 is the way it is now. #2 is switching them around.

AS usual with this software you have to vote twice for it to count once, kind of like voting in FL. Jim

I was about to disagree with you, Jim, when I decided to check the poll stats and realized you'd probably voted, so that "1" vote wasn't MINE. So I revoted, and got a reply that said "Your vote was cast" or something like that.

So folks, if you don't get that reply, you didn't vote. Try again!

Hang-ily Yours,
Florida Chad

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

Either is fine w/me so I'm not casting a vote. HOWEVER, Trinh still has a problem w/the PMs. If I'm in a thread and opt to PM one of the posters and click on their PM icon I'm taken to a blank PM message okay - BUT their ID is NOT in the To box like it always used to be. So now I've gotta remember EXACTLY the way they've spelled their ID or do the Search for ID bit. Its a bit of a PITA, this way, Trinh. Sure would be nice if their ID would pop up in the To box like it used to.

Whew! Yer fast, SleepPunk!! I was just coming back from the PMs to mention that it sure would be nice if it was more OBVIOUS when we have a PM arrive to our In box like we used to.

And I'm still getting extra Security Alerts. Like one when I go to the PMs, one when I send a PM when it pops up for me to see what I sent and then yet another when I want to leave the PM I sent and go back to the Index page.

Hey, fer all my pointing out "problems", don't think all you guys are doing aren't appreciated!!!!! 'Cause on accountta it is!

Slinky, that's not entirely accurate.

I've PM-ed people off of a topic thread this week (since the revision), and if you look closely, their ID is there. That blank screen is for adding ANOTHER recipient.

Cheers,
Babs

Hi Slinky,

I suspect the security alerts have to do with your browser settings. Not sure what browser you are using but typically you can modify how and when you want to be alerted about security stuff. I am not saying you should turn off your alerts. Me, I turn most of them off in my browser because I know enough about the internet to know when I am on a secure page or not, and whether to trust the site, etc. It depends on how comfortable you are with computers and stuff.

Ultimately, we wanted to add some Secure Socket Layers with 128 bit encryption to private areas of CPAPtalk where members transmit personal information over the internet. Something that was lacking from the previous CPAPtalk. I know it may be a bit of a pain for those who choose to leave their alerts on but better to have your info (password, personal info) secure when you transmit than not secure.

If you think it is NOT your browser settings or if you think you are getting an error message instead. By all means post it up here or on the Main Bug thread and we will dig deeper.

And BTW - The PM thing you mentioned was broken when you posted it. Thanks for mentioning.

Thanks!
Chris.

OK, I like the Control Panel on the left but would prefer the login in the center before the sizing. It just feels right to be there.

It's going to be okay in the end; if it's not okay, it's not the end.

Thanks, Chris. I'm using Explorer. My 'guru did just update my AVG but I'm not getting any extra Security Alerts anywhere else. I don't mind the one entering the PM section, nor even the one leaving, but that extra one in the middle I wouldn't mind disappearing on its own. Its amazing how fast you guys are responding and fixing!! Good job! And thanks yet again.

Honestly, I could care less where it is. Two reasons:

1) I go on so many forums, I never know where the login is for any of them.

2) For most forums, I have the "auto-login" enabled, so unless my browser cookies get reset or I am at a guest machine, I'm logged in anyway.

BTW, I haven't been on much lately so a very belated "Nice Job!" on the new look. This forum software is some of the best I have used.

Doesn't really matter to me. If I can find it, I'll get used to it..........wherever it is.
