CPAPtalk admin - I miss New Posts Since . . .

Post by gasp » Sun Aug 17, 2008 8:23 am

I love the new forum look and function. However, I do miss the ability to view New Posts Since You Last Visited (I think it was called that). Is there any intention of bringing that back, or can I do it now and just don't know how?

Thanks for all your hard work - very nice forum : )

I think it is still here just a bit different. From what I have found if the circle with lines in it is red it has new posts. When you have looked at it it turns black. On the threads that have a picture instead of the circle if you put the mouse pointer on it it will say "new posts" or "no new posts". Doesn't jump out at you but it is still there.

Just a reader, but I found that there's a little box between the avatar and message title that will return you to new posts. I like the new look also.

Correct. Hard to see, but it's there. Looks like a tiny orange page with a torn black corner. An orange box with a black arrow, when I get the magnifying glass out. It's awfully small though.

I liked the green mark that used to indicate a topic that was new or had had a post added since I'd last looked at it. But I'll get used to the orange box. I don't think I'll ever get used to the key words forced into my posts, though.

Correct. Hard to see, but it's there. Looks like a tiny page with a torn corner. Or something like that. It's awfully small though.

I liked the more obvious green mark that used to indicate a topic that was new or had had a post added since I'd last looked at it.
WOW! Never noticed that before. Thanks for pointing it out!

I know what you are talking about, I miss that too. Yes, "new posts since you last visited" is correct. It is not here now.

There are so many details about this forum that I have yet to learn. For instance, I don't understand what constitutes a new post. Example: I posted a reply to a thread of OutaSync's about half an hour ago, and no one's posted anything to that thread since. But OutaSync's avatar is displayed. So that tells me the last reply to be posted -- mine -- no longer is "new."
What does that mean? That OutaSync read it? Is that it? A post is "new" until the threat originator reads it? Can someone enlighten me?

Thanks...
Marsha

The avatar shown is the avatar of the original poster. It won't change unless the OP changes their avatar. You'll never know if someone actually reads your post. You'll just know if someone posted after you(unless someone actually mentions your post or name).

Thanks, everybody. I went back and actually READ what Jerry said and got it. I'd love to stick around and talk, but I just heard the bell for my Reading Comprehension 101 class. Bye!!!

Thanks everyone for pointers on how to tell which messages had new threads in them and which don't - and the orange avatar . . . and I still miss the "new posts since you last visited" since it sorted messages so only unread messages appear - no straining of eyes looking for miniature avatars and color differences : )))

I think Johnny or SleepPunk said that it's on the list to be implemented.... not sure if that's the v1 list of the v2 list or I'm just making it up
I remember reading it in this post somewhere, i think: viewtopic/t33986/Welcome-To-The-New-CPA ... -Here.html
