I Can't post!? a new thread, or a reply!!!???

Post by Guest » Wed Aug 13, 2008 8:13 pm

I can't post a new thread or reply when using my usual browser IE 7! All I get is a little white box, with a red x in it, instead of a Confirmation code!? And,Or, the same thing appears on the link to new posts! I only got here because I switched to my alternate browser Firefox! Please Help! MikDee

Try logging in TWICE, first login is like ignored 2nd time should take.

This has got nothing to do with it! I never had a problem here, until yesterdays change
Again I'm now using Firefox just to post, after trying to log on 4 times previously with Internet Explorer 7
After I put in my username, & password, it throws up a window that I'm logged in, then the window disappears and it shows I'm not logged in? 4 times! Firefox eliminates access to my favorite folders, & the text looks like brail, that's Why I don't like it, or use it regularly

I can't be the only one using IE7 on this board? or the only one having trouble logging in with it?
I don't want to be forced into using something, that I wouldn't normally choose to use

MikDee,

You have a screwy setting somewhere. I'm posting from IE 7.

I always use Firefox and don't have any problems at all logging in, posting, or replying. I don't have to log in twice, either. Maybe it's some type of setting in IE.

Like I said in the other thread, I'm logged in on Firefox AND IE7 (without a hitch)......and am making this post from IE7.

I just tried it again, I had to log-in twice after logging out.

I was logged in, I clicked "Logout [Snoredog is great] on status bar,

Status bar then says "Login" (noticed it didn't say "Logout")

I clicked on "Login" and my browser automatically filled in my login ID and password again, I checked the 2 option boxes and Login. I show up on the status bar again as being Logged in, next I go to a post to reply, once I click on the Reply button it pops up with the screen without an ID and the pixel image authentication box to confirm I am a real person (i.e. that means I am NOT logged in even though I just logged in). I observe the status bar and it shows now I am no longer logged in, I repeat the process and it takes it the 2nd time, status bar changes to Logout as I am finally logged in.

Look at the number of posts I have, I have logged on here a few times, I have ALWAYS had to log on here twice, doesn't matter the computer or location. I KNOW why I need to log on twice, it is because I have my browser security set very high, I don't allow cookies to remain in my cache after I close my browser. In Safari it deletes those cookies (if you have it set to) when you close your browser. I have Autofill set up to input my cpaptalk ID and password, once I log out I know I will need to log in TWICE. I have had to do this for years, I had to do it with XP and IE 5 and all versions of FireFox in between because I had those browsers set up the exact same way.

Why does it take two times to log in for me?

First time gives cpaptalk.com permission to place a cookie on my machine,
Second time it actually places it there and once cpaptalk.com sees the cookie on my machine and that I am logged in and allows me to proceed. If it doesn't see that cookie it doesn't proceed.

and if you don't know how to clear your cookies as Wulfman suggested?? Well I don't know how you make it through the day
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

I was just experimenting with my IE7 (I usually use Firefox) and set my Security setting to High and my Privacy setting to High (only one notch below the highest) and it logged me in on the first shot. I have never used the option to log me in automatically......so I don't know if that has any bearing.

Don't know what to tell you about your multiple login thing.

Den (posting from IE7) (and selecting the predefined Smilies doesn't seem to work from here)

Still experimenting with IE7 (set my security levels back to where I usually have them)

Now the pre-defined Smilies seem to work.

Ok, Just happened to have a computer geek friend over tonight, I asked him to take a look, and he cleared the cookies from CPAP talk, and Now I can finally log on, I guess then the website reset my new cookies correctly? No, I'm not really that computer literate, but in my old age I just get by on "seat of the pants" learning. I'm sure I have a lot of useless junk on my computer, that slows it up. MikDee

Oh, I see, it bumped me off as I was replying, so it asked me for my username, and password, and to put in a confirmation code, Then it said: "that username is in use", so I just left it blank, and it came up "Guest"? So, I just now logged in again to make this post
