Breas Isleep I20 - how to check logs?
Breas Isleep I20 - how to check logs?
Hello.
Recently got a Breas Isleep I20 and have some questions regarding this unit.
1.
What kind of information is logged?
2.
There is a rj45 contact on the left side off the unit, could i hook it up to the router i have to my computer or is it more complicated than that?
3.
Where can i find the software needed?
4.
It is possible to use a memory-card but what kind ?
5.
Does the size of the memory-card matter or can any generic 1gb work?

Re: Breas Isleep I20 - how to check logs?
you are the first I've read that owned the Breas machine, I haven't seen it being sold in the USA.
I would check the manual that came with the machine or contact Breas. Most of these machines use a SmartCard or SIM card to store
data, wouldn't it be nice if they used an off the shelf memory card? I'm not holding my breath.
The Memory card for your machine probably comes with the optional PC Software for the machine (again contact breas).
Looks like a cool machine with nice features but like I said, haven't seen anyone in the USA selling it.
RJ45 Jack: According to their website the RJ45 jack is a RS232 serial port, so it wouldn't plug into your router, if you can find the pinouts you could convert it to a DB9 and connect it to a PC's serial port or adapter.
Memory Card: You would have to check with Breas on the type, they don't show it in the Specifications sheet.

Re: Breas Isleep I20 - how to check logs?
Its the only machine i have used but seems good, compact design, noiseless and humidifier with integrated powersupply.Snoredog wrote:you are the first I've read that owned the Breas machine, I haven't seen it being sold in the USA.
The manufacture doesnt do anything else than refering me back to the hospital....
But however i found out that the machine can be unlocked by pressing down the 2 middle buttons for a couple of seconds and then i can se airflow shown as L/min and current pressure
Re: Breas Isleep I20 - how to check logs?
Iv had one of these machines for about 18 months and can report it as a great machine as you say its quiet and ergonomic little unit.
I did have some difficulty at the start tho. I think my trouble was more the dodgy so called "Homecare provider" (HCP). the first unit they provided I noticed had 1200 hrs on it when they delivered it. supposedly new. After 2 days use it started throwing up errors and cutting of my air 2 or 3 times a night, when I contacted the HCP seller they gave me vauge replies in regards to the errors and no usefull information after a few days i threatended to cancel my cheque and the replaced it with a brand new unit.
all was good then for 3 months and then the humidifier falled. I didnt even call the HCP but contacted breas direct in NZ, then my HCP called me to finf=d the adress to send a replacement humidifier. and it was dilivered the next day. I assumed Breas must have recieved sturn note from breas regarding my complaint. i have nad no issues with the isleep since that time 12 months ago and use it most nights.
I too tried to find out how to read and take advantage of the data but had no luck emailing the breas tech support they just told me " ask the home care provider" (hmff not likely) they seemed to have this attitude that the user shouldnt have access to the data. i did get it to write to an sd card but the data was in some unreadable format no program i could lay my hands too could make sence of it. and when i took the sd card to my resperitory specialist he too snubbed his nose at it.
i have replaced the filters with some carbon filter material i cur to size genua=ine filters are $15 a peice and should be replaced 4 times a year and im now ready to replace the nasal pillows in my - opus mask $30
over all the unit has been great, the provider was crap. and the data facility "well foget about it"
hope this info is usefull

Re: Breas Isleep I20 - how to check logs?
Interesting. I first read about the Breas at apneasupport. Someone in the forum from PA or NY was using one. I'd forgotten all about the Breas until this post popped up again today. I don't remember the Breas model I originally read about being an APAP.
Its a rather intriguing APAP, fully data capable including a memory card and software. Can be used in clinical settings and at home, 3.1 lbs w/empty humidifier. Can be used w/external 12.5/24 VDC. Auto switching power supply for international travel. 6.8"x6.8".8.2" dimensions. Check it out.

They also make a fully data capable bi-level

Breas was a firm based in Sweden which has been acquired by GE Healthcare and now has an office (as of March 2007) in Baltimore, MD, USA. The Head Office remains in Sweden.

The software is used for clinical use only,
Re: Breas Isleep I20 - how to check logs?
Oh, hell, ChiefKimmer, so isn't ResScan and EncorePro INTENDED for clinical use only. What does that have to do w/the price of tea in China?? Sooner or later the Breas software will end up on patients' 'puters. NEVER under estimate the ingenuity of a determined apnean!
Breas users should ask their doctor to write a script for the software and necessary cable reader or whatever is needed and then shop around, including w/foreign online DME suppliers, to try to find a decent price for them. Figure around $150-$200 American. There's more than one way to skin a cat.

Re: Breas Isleep I20 - how to check logs?
Someone I found over the internet via the Dutch apneaforum http://www.apneuvereniging.nl/forum/index.php has bought the Breas-software, took some effort with statements from his physician etc., but he got it. So also I have the software now . It is usefull software, also for the patient. Imho it is nonsense that this kind of software only is usefull for medical professionals.
Problem now is that I can't use it because I don't have the cable. A serial communication cable with a DB9 on one side and a RJ45 on the other is easily made with some parts from ebay. Combinated with a serial to USB adpater it can be used also on modern PC's lacking a serial port. However the protocol (pinout) is for the serial over RJ45 is not standardised, so I will end up with testing all kind of pinouts, or opening up the iSleep and try to find out how it is connected to the serial-IC.
Any help would be appreciated.

Can i have it aswell?MartyF wrote:...but he got it. So also I have the software now .
Skip the cable and use a compact flash card instead, i did it last night with a 8mb flash card and it was easy as eating cake and used a digital camera to transfer the files to the computer since i have no other means of reading flash cards.Problem now is that I can't use it because I don't have the cable. Disconnected the powercable and inserted the flash card, then connected power and then copied the data onto the flash card, the menus are fairly easy to use and understand, then i disconnected the power and removed the flash card.
If the machine is locked you need to unlock it first and its done by pressing down the 2 middle buttons for a couple of seconds.
Re: Breas Isleep I20 - how to check logs?
I am wondering if you have the same machine, since mine unfortunately does not have a slot for a flash card.Tjabo wrote:Skip the cable and use a compact flash card instead, i did it last night with a 8mb flash card and it was easy as eating cake and used a digital camera to transfer the files to the computer since i have no other means of reading flash cards.
Re: Breas Isleep I20 - how to check logs?
Mine is the iSleep 20, not the iSleep I20. So my only option is using the cable.MartyF wrote:I am wondering if you have the same machine, since mine unfortunately does not have a slot for a flash card.Tjabo wrote:Skip the cable and use a compact flash card instead, i did it last night with a 8mb flash card and it was easy as eating cake and used a digital camera to transfer the files to the computer since i have no other means of reading flash cards.

Then im afraid i cant help you but you could try to contact breas, they usually answer mails within a couple of workdays.MartyF wrote:since mine unfortunately does not have a slot for a flash card.
Re: Breas Isleep I20 - how to check logs?
In the mean time I opened up the device, and it looks like the RJ45-connection is the EIA/TIA 561 standard. So I will give it a try.
Re: Breas Isleep I20 - how to check logs?
It works. Above mentioned protocol is the right one.
Re: Breas Isleep I20 - how to check logs?
Just wondering if anyone has got a hold of the Breas iSleep software. If you do and you're willing to share, please drop me a PM.
