woo hoo sleeping well + 1 year anniversary
woo hoo sleeping well + 1 year anniversary
I'm happy to report that my brand-new pressure of 10.5 is *finally* seems to be the sweet spot. 0.5 cm less and too many flow limitations, 0.5 more and too many central's, 10.5 is juuuuusttt riiiiight. (for now anyway )
I may try APAP again with a higher minimum/initial pressure, 7 and 8 just weren't cutting it. I'm really not sure if it's the reduced flow limitation runs, or if it's completely psychosomatic (as the doctor's would have me believe this whole time, as in "take prozac, there's nothing wrong with you").... but whatever, I'm finally getting tired at night again and waking up reasonably in the mornings, and all that without the need to kill the first person that I see in the morning.
Aaaaaaand to top it all off, it's my birthday (and I'll sleep if I want to hee hee), and it's been 1 year and 10 days since I started with CPAP. Yippie! I've got 1800+ util hours on my 420e, and before that I had 3 months worth of time on the loaner. I can't believe it's been a year already!!!
Thanks slinky for your recent post- for motivating to write this.
I love cpap, all you guys, cpaptalk.com, and cpap.com!! Thanks to everyone here who's helped me, directly and indirectly (I try to read as many posts as I can and learn from many of them!!).

For a newbie, it's just another reason to embrace the mask.

I have no doubt, how I sleep affects every waking moment.
I am making progress-NOW I remember that I can't remember

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

Congratulations echo,
I am happy for you that you finally got it down pat and are sleeping so well.
It has been a year for me this month (August) to but I had nasal surgery & turbinate surgery in Nov.2007 so that set me back by a few months with no therapy, i'm 9 months post-op and my nose is still sore and tender, ouch!
I'm still tweaking on my pressure, etc., as I am waking up groggy headed and fatigued but i'll get there someday i'm trying my best not to give up but I sure want to alot of the time...
Lastnight, for the first time ever, I went to bed as usual, masked up and went to sleep, I woke up 4 hours and 20 minutes later to go to the restroom and when I went back to bed, I DID NOT put that mask back on, I went to sleep and didn't wake up until 9:45am, I slept so good and I didn't feel one bit groggy headed or fatigued, I actually got some MUCH needed sleep.
Thanks for listening and I am sorry if I messed up your "Happy Post" !
Keep up the good work!

Re: woo hoo sleeping well + 1 year anniversary
Thanks everyone for your nice words! I'm happy to report that since I've found the right pressure, the brain fog seems to be clearing up a little bit. I even did a presentation at work yesterday without stumbling over every single word! (and i used to do speech and debate in high school. sheesh they should hear me now!)
Sleepynomore: sorry to hear that it's not going so well. I hope you do get it figured out soon. No reason to lecture you about sleeping without the mask...! I would post a whole long reply but I've got to study now so I hope others will chime in. Have you started a new thread already?
I have exams coming up soon so sorry I haven't been too good about replying to all these posts and answering new ones....
