I strum an SG from time to time. No band or anything, just play along with my stereo system (mostly 60s, 70s, and 80s rock).

Tansey,

In the pits after being diagnosed with macular degeneration over two years ago, and watching my grandchildren play piano, I suddenly had an inspiration that I could learn to do that. first, I started learning to read music then got some books and online dvds and bought a keyboard.

This discovery was a life-saver for me, as I need to be learning. I discovered a passion I didn't know existed as I never even thought about learning a musical instrument. I love learning and playing piano. I play for my own enjoyment and find it to be a fun, relaxing, enjoyable and stress releaving activity. Only regret is not discovering this passion many years ago. We are never to old to discover and take up a new passion

Do you guys go on the pianoworld forum?

Anne

carbonman-

I knew you were a musician. I could smell it on your breath!

DreamStalker-

And I had you pegged for a drummer! I guess your quote threw me off!

I've never been much of a musician, myself, but I have been known to dabble in the singer/songwriter/performer genre as a bit of a diversion--and, well, you know, to irritate my wife :

Pianist and Singer (mostly classical/choral stuff). Making music either at the keyboard or singing especially in a group has always been the best therapy for life's ailments. In recent years years my increasing fatigue has forced me to curtail doing these things which I seriously lament. I hope that CPAP therapy helps me get back to both the way I used to.

Since we're comparing notes... I do enjoy playing a ditty or two on the electronic FM tuner from time to time. And I've been told my work is virtually indistinguishable from all the originals.

Sorry guys... I couldn't resist.

We return back to your regularly scheduled thread for real musicians...

Played in a few local bands over the years,
Still own an Epiphone EF-500M Acoustic Guitar and a 1971 SG DeLuxe.

Just pluck a few strings here and there now.

I love music and love to learn to play different instruments. The current collection consists of:
Piano Accordion
Flute
Violin
Guitar
Piano/Guitar-not currently practicing

Would like to learn:
pan flute
oboe

At the moment that should keep me out of mischeif.

LOL! Jnk that is a great tag line! And around here absolutely no one will ever take offense to tales of mask noises.

I figure another few weeks and you'll be playing Flight of the Bumble Bee Mask in your sleep... to a standing ovation of fellow hoseheads, of course.

Songwriter guitarist here, been playing since I was 10. I play a Gurian S2R, a Taylor 610ce and a GS7, and a Godin nylon electric with a synth patch I run through a Roland synth.

It's great to have the energy back to play regularly again. I actually have a bit of a voice now.

I play keyboards in a progressive rock band (see http://www.vertex.mus.br). We are currently recording our first demo material. Always loved to play progressive, I own some MIDI controllers and synth modules (VintageKeys, Proteus 2/XR and a SE-1), and have some VSTs in my laptop (M-Tron, B4, Pro-53, MiniMonsta, Guitar Rig).

Pennywhistle and Irish flute, sometimes in local sessions and was in a band until our fiddlers grew up and went off to grad school. Have dabbled with guitar, piano and bodhran, but wouldn't say I actually _play_ them.

I'm learning to play the Great Highland Bagpipes. Oddly, though I wouldn't have chosen CPAP as a training method, it may be helpful in learning to sustain the pressure the pipes require.

Good to hear there are musicians here. The low d whistle I play takes a lot of wind and I've found I have a tremendous lung capacity from it. Some second octave notes require full lungs to just play 2 notes. I did well on my stress test and I feel playing this whistle helped a lot, plus it has got to be good for the mind and spirit to always be learning and studying and displaying an emotion through music.
