GoodKnight 420E for sale (save hundreds!)

Post by DCTom » Wed Jul 23, 2008 5:05 am

I have a GoodKnight 420E autoCPAP I no longer use. It is in great condition and was used irregularly for approx 3-4 months. I opted for a Cflex machine. My 420E includes the heated humidifier. Brand new it costs $500 or more. I'd be happy to sell it for $100. I tried CPAPAuction but I don't think they get many visitors. If interested PM me and I'll direct you to my CPAPAuction page. Thanks!

If I had known I would have lived this long, I would have taken better care of myself.

Your auction still has 5 days left to run. Alot can happen in those 5 days. I have sold on eBay and many times auctions receive last minute bids.

You state you only want a $100 for it, yet you have a $100 bid and your "reserve is not met". How much is the reserve? It has to be more than the $100 you stated in your post. If you truly will sell it for the $100 take the reserve off and you will see more action.

I thought autopap machines are preferred over cflex machines. Is this generally correct? If so, I am curious as to why you are selling it. Also, do many folks have a back up machine? And, does this machine have any sort of data reader? Finally, would I need a new hose, mask for this machine? Or are hose connectors universal?

I think I'm done now.

An autopap and cflex technology are not the same thing. An autopap is set to a range of pressures. I have an apap that is set with a starting pressure of 9 and the top pressure is 15. I have the M series machine which has the cflex technology and not the aflex you hear so much about here on the forum.

I have a back up machine in case of problems. My machine will be a year old in August and if something happens I want to make sure I can still have a good nights sleep (barring power outages since I do not have a battery back-up).

I suggest you go to cpap.com and look under the 420E to see specific details of that machine.

OK. I get that they are not the same technology. But the question is: which technology is considered superior? Is there a consensus?

C-flex is found in a Auto and others also. It senses your exhale and lowers the pressure making it easier to exhale. Respironics has C-Flex and A-Flex (same prinicipal but works a bit different) Resmed has EPR and Easy Breathe, Kinda works the same. Some machines do not have it at all. If you are sensitive to the pressure C-Flex makes it a lot more comfortable. The pressure does not bother some people so they eather turn it off or buy one that does not have it, PB420E. Depends on the user! When I first started I don't think I could have made it without C-Flex but after a year and a half I think I could use one without it and would not notice.

Hey good luck on selling your machine. I used cpap auctions and sold mine for a pretty good deal. If your reserve is above $100.00 well hey it's your mahcine and you can sell it for what you want, just be reasonable, which it seems like you are doing well. Good luck

CMF,
You're trying to compare apples & oranges. It's not cflex OR autopap. Some autos have cflex.

CFLEX is the Respironics version of exhale relief. It reduces the pressure during exhale only to make it more comfortable. It doesn't affect the inhale or overall pressure. It's a comfort feature only.

An Autopap adjusts the inhale & exhale pressure up & down to try to prevent or overcome apneas as they occur.

So, you really can't compare them against each other. They are used for two different things.

I think I understand now.

Do most people like autopap machines?

Those of us that are informed do! APAPs will do anything and more. I have an APAP but run it in CPAP mode most of the time. For me my therapy is better in CPAP mode. But a couple of times a year I run it in Auto mode for a week to see if my pressure is still OK. This works especially if you loose or gain weight. Beats going back to the sleep lab and getting retested.

I'm interested if it hasn't sold. Looking for a backup.

Currently unemployed for the price is right.
