Anyone using (or used) a mirage quattro? Love it, hate it?

Post by emak » Sat Jul 19, 2008 9:32 am

Just wondering if there's anyone who uses this mask and thinks it's alot better than others you've tried? Or did you use it and hated it/or found something better? First mask i was given (i'm a total newbie), was a Comfortgel which I considered to be just plain awful compared to the quattro which they used on me in the lab.

Just wanted to get some final take before I take the plunge and spend 170 buckeroos

well like with any other interface you'll get lots of votes for both love it and hate it

i tried it for a very brief time and couldn't get it to work for me, but then i've been unable to get ANY fullface mask to work for me...i'm a nasal pillow devotee

I'm trying nasal pillows right now, and this new relationship just wasn't meant to be. Can't get the buggers to seal right. It's looking to me like nasal - anything isn't going to be for me...I always wake up to air spilling out my lips, and I've been using tape to stop that from happening, until I can get a full face. I really wish I could figure a way to stop that from happening, because nasal would be better.

Love my Quattro

Post by deglorious » Sat Jul 19, 2008 9:42 am

Hi, I am on my second quattro. I tried the FP407 but that did not work for me. There are some adjustment notes that you should be aware of. Don't overtighten the nose bridge straps and let the adjustment on the forehead part out all the way to avoid getting a sore nose. You can always purchase an inexpensive nose protection pad from http://www.padacheek.com and use some Mack's silicone putty or moleskin, so I've heard. I learned just to make the adjustment stated above, and it keeps my nose from getting sore.

Also, put the mask on chin first and use a squeaky clean mask cushion and face to prevent leaks. I have had zero leak rates many times using this method.

Good luck,

Deglorious

The Quattro is the best FF mask I have tried, but don't pay $170---check for listings (new) on cpapauction.com.

Quattro is the highest rated FF. It doesn't come in a shallow version, and someone else on here posted that you might want the Ultra if shallow fits better. I am happy with mine, but I am very new to all this.
Need to restart BiPAP therapy, never got adjusted enough. ResMed VPAP Auto with H3i humidifier, Mirage Quattro Full Face mask, ResScan 3.5. On paper, my Dx is OSAS, but it's probably UARS. Reduced amount of REM. Titrated at very low I/E pressures.

I'm a mouth breather, must use full face, and found the Quattro to be
the best mask thus far. I do alternative between the Quattro and the Ultra Mirage (shallow), but I really like the forehead tension adjustment on the Quattro.

Good for you.........I also shop on Ebay for supplies. The DME prices
are highly inflated.

No problem! I'm self-pay for masks/machine/supplies, and it's been a real lifesaver. I only wish I had known about it sooner! Best of luck with the mask. Another tip is that keeping the cushion clean is critical for leak prevention on the quattro.
