Just Curious about Nickname and Avitars

OK, I must have too much time on my hands tonight, but I was looking at the posters names and pics and wondering (imagining?) the connections to some of their posts.

For instance, notice Dreamstalker's avitar. Now that looks like a bad dream to me. I can see Rooster strutting around like a victorious socker (sorry, football) player. Bab's - hmmmmm.... Needs decaf - is that a hearse? Wulfman, loaner, strong independent. Goofproof - Good-Ole-Boys Tour.

What is the connection if any?

In my case, the face and body fur has long since gone white, so I tend to resemble a polar bear; and since I am a retired librarian, Bookbear is appropriate.

Are you tall and thin and wear a stovepipe hat? Do you drive an old piece of Detroit iron? Live in a town named for a president?

I'm a member on about a dozen different gun and knife forums and just used the same screen name here. I guess I haven't been here long enough to consider an avatar.

I as Goofproof, have been around since 1972, was given the name by a good friend, now deceased, for my ability in fixing Detroit Iron, as a CB Handle for legal AM traffic. The High Freq Bands, had different call signs.

The avatar, isn't a ad for buttcracks, I build and repair, all my computers, this month I rebuilt both mine, and made one for my boy out of the old parts. As always it's a work in progress, (Both cases off), I'm always changing things making them better. My Cave looks like a bomb went off in here. If Homeland Security, looked in my windows, SWAT would take me away, my work area looks like a bomb factory. Someday, I hope to get it cleaned up, but the piles just keep growing. Jim

Heh, the pose reminds me of someone bent over the porcelain altar having a good, hard spew after a night on the booze... computers make me feel that way sometimes

I chose my handle to convey playfulness and an easy-going sense of humor, while allowing many potential interpretations. It also made me laugh and seemed unlikely to already be taken

Mesoamerican art (mushroom induced I suppose) that resembles me with my PAP gear before bedtime ... pleasant dreams

What???? Decaf? Hearse? Are you talking about "Babette" or another poster? My Avatar is a blonde laying in bed saying "Of course I'm good in bed, I can sleep for days!" Or something like that. What picture are YOU seeing???

My "real" name is Barbara, and I've been known as Babette for years on the forums, so I just keep using that. It's also the name of my website. It's my online identity, I guess. No one calls me that in real life.

And I just liked that pic, and thought it was appropriate for this forum. On one of my other boards I have a pic of a very old, very fat, very pissed off woman, with the caption reading "I told you I was a Wicked Old Besom!" It works there. Doesn't make alot of sense here.

Oh, I get it. You were talking about "NeedsDecaf" and the hearse.

And tangent to NeedsDecaf - I drive a Subaru Outback Wagon. Does that make me sexy?

I have to have haulage room. I'm always hauling something around. Although, and I'm sure this is heresy, I just tested out a Prius and discovered it has more room in the backseat, and more floor length when the backseat is folded down. It has less CUBIC haulage space than the Roo, because the Roo comes down square and the hatch on the Prius tapers down.

But there's more SLEEPING space in the Prius. I'm really thinking about trading in the Roo. It sucks gas terribly. AWD is killing me!!!!

lol, i would venture there are a whole lot of folks on here w/ too much time besides me...butt(pun intended) then again i can't think of a better place to spend my time than w/ good friends that are inclined to educate this pilgrim ...i think my slayin days are about expired
