Chosing new Bipap

Post by Unrested1 » Sat Jul 12, 2008 12:28 pm

I just had my second sleep study Thursday (split study). Friday they called and said the Dr had written a script for a bipap. I have no other info at this time.(talk about fast. I was expecting the results to take weeks). Now the questions. Will my ins company pay for a bipap? I have only had a cpap since April 2007.

Which machine would you purchase? Am I correct in assuming that if I had the software I could have avoided having another study done? (I own a Mac, so would have to use son's laptop (can you hear him whining already?)

Thanks in advance for your input. I'll probably be back with twenty more questions.

Most likely your insurance will purchase the bi-level as long as your sleep doctor have verified that you need a bi-level.

Medicare is purchasing a bi-level for me since I was switched to a bi-level in March 08 after having purchased a CPAP w/expiration relief for me in Oct of 06.

I intended to highly recommend the Resmed VPAP Auto but doggone Resmed has JUST come out w/an even newer model, the Resmed VPAP Auto 25 and Humidaire 4i integrated humidifier. I don't even know what all is "new" about it other than its range is up to 25 cms instead of the prior 20 cms of pressure and the Humidiare 4i must also have some changes over the Humidaire 3i that my Resmed VPAP Auto utilizes.

I will say I LOVE my Resmed VPAP Auto w/its EasyBreathe techonology. It TRULY is EASY to breathe w/it!!

In addition the ease of access to so much data via the Resmed LCD screen is a pleasure! It is capable of providing therapy in 3 modes: auto, spontaneous and CPAP w/EPR.
