Best online stores?

Post by mellodrone » Thu Jul 10, 2008 2:03 am

Hi all, I'm pretty new to xPAP (3 months) and need to buy my machine out of pocket (will submit the bill to insurance and pray!) I was wondering if anyone could recommend a few good online stores so I can shop for the best price and then have my doctor fax in the Rx. I want to get the ResMed AutoSet II, and not all online CPAP stores have this machine so that why I was hoping to get a few recommendations. Thanks so much!

Last year when I was looking for an online store, I found that cpap.com really did have the cheapest prices and the best selection (and no shipping to pay if you order a certain amount!). But I was looking for the P&B, so YMMV.
(and this is in part a plug for cpap.com, the hosts of cpaptalk.com, but also because they really are pretty awesome!! very helpful too, if you email or call them).

PR System One APAP, 10cm
Activa nasal mask + mouth taping w/ 3M micropore tape + Pap-cap + PADACHEEK + Pur-sleep
Hosehead since 31 July 2007, yippie!

My personal opinion is also Cpap.com I have used a couple others for small things but Cpap.com has been the best I have done any business with.

Thank you for that... when I did a Google search last night, I was finding unbelievable prices from places like sell.com (whatever that is) but I don't want to buy from someone who's here today and gone tomorrow. I'll definitely check out cpap.com.

I've gotten good services from a vendor who is both online and on cpapauction.com - Tina's Homecare.

HOWEVER - I only buy small dollar stuff from her - filters, chinstraps, etc.

I ONLY buy masks and machines from cpap.com. They are established, have a good reputation, and offer customer service. I'm not going to go anywhere else for my big expenditures.

Cheers,
Babs

Just as an FYI, I did call cpap.com, and they don't yet carry the ResMed AutoSet II. They also don't know when they'll be getting it in. So I ended up buying from sleeprestfully.com (Positive Air, Inc.). Their introductory price on this unit is excellent. Thank you for telling me about cpap.com - I've bookmarked that site for buying filters, masks, cleaning solution, etc.

I did check out cpapauction.com (thank for that!) and I agree... I'd only want to buy small ticket items. But good to know about it!

I love cpap.com I have used them several times and because I live in Houston I can order one day and generally have the item the next. Their turn around time from order receipt to shipping is very quick. I will be ordering a machine soon.

mellodrone,

You said you were going to have your doctor fax in the Rx. Be sure you get a physical copy of it also. I think most online stores consider an Rx good forever. You can use it in the future if you need to. Or, you may need it handy down the road if you need a replacement for a broken machine or mask really quick.

another vote for cpap.com

I also highly recommend CPAP.com. They have competitive prices and a huge selection, and a generous price-matching policy. They pack your order very carefully and ship it very quickly. Their customer service is consistently excellent. Out of 5 or 6 orders I placed with them since starting CPAP 13 months ago, there was a slight problem with one order. I emailed them, they sent a replacement right away, no questions asked, no hassle, no charge. I've also gotten reliable advice from them, not just about purchases, but about other cpap issues where there was no chance for them to make any money by giving me the advice.

And finally, cpap.com is a socially conscious (sp?) company. They strive to have a positive impact.

My review is absolutely unbiased, I have no personal or financial interest in cpap.com. I'm just a very satisfied, grateful customer, like so many of us on this forum.

Dan, thank you for the good advice. I'll get a copy of my Rx from my doctor's office.

I agree with everyone here, cpap.com looks to be an excellent store/site. The "Common Side Effects" (Frequently Asked Questions) section has answered just about every burning question I have about xPAP. Sites like cpap.com, and forums like cpaptalk.com have helped me so much... now when I sit down with my doctor to discuss my progress or what settings we need to tweak, he and I speak the same language and it's really helped my compliance.

Cpapauction.com good for more expensive items too

Post by nightmares » Mon Jul 14, 2008 6:03 am

I won a bid and purchased the US Model "Resmed Autoset II with H3i humidifier" from Cpapauction.com. I am happy, so far, i.e. the machine works and is new as stated in the auction. Even though I haven't tried it, I know I will like it as I tried the Australian version model "Resmed Auto Spirit II Platinum" in the hospital for about 15 minutes and I liked it because it was comfortable for me.

I don't know about anyone else, but I think it's O.K to buy (bid) for cpap machines in Cpapauction.com. If you are worried, just check the sellers feedback (read it) and if it is mostly positive, i.e. 90-100% positive, and the negative feedback isn't something really serious, then I guess i'ts alright to bid on the more expensive items.

Another web page is Cpap-auctions.com

Best Online Filters

Go here: http://www.cpapfiltersandsupplies.com. I can find anything better online as far as prices. Can anyone else?

Price is one thing, but quality is another. I seem to remember someone stating that the quality of filters from some of these places was marginal and they deteriorated sooner than others.

Sometimes you get what you pay for.

I have no first-hand experience with them......only the originals that came with my machines and the ones I've purchased from CPAP.COM.

Having looked back through your previous posts tells me that you're probably working for them or an owner......you seem to push that website in most of your posts.

I must be missing something here. I could not find any price on line for any product at that place. Usually stores which do not show prices are not the lowest priced ones

I'm pretty sure Lacking Sleep is just looking to drum up some business. He/she has posted in other threads with the same message.
