"Hainted" Resmed Vantage?

Post by CUatX » Sat Jun 28, 2008 3:16 pm

Ah think Ah got Haints in mah machine!

The autostart option is enabled, and occasionally during the day, the machine will start on it's own (the hose is disconnected when not in use), run for a few seconds, and then turn off. It's spooked my wife more than once.

I've heard the Resmed Vantage is known for being overly sensitive to hypopneas and this certainly seems to be the case with mine. I've done a couple of a trial runs with the machine while sitting upright reading/watching TV, and it logged HIs and AIs both times. I wonder if the two phenomena might be related, perhaps because of an overly-sensitive pressure sensor or algorithm. Or do I need an exorcist?

Do you have any fans or a breeze from a window near it?
I am using the Autoset II and it turns on easily - sometimes just from disconnecting the mask from the hose or moving the hose.

Or its just a ghost!

When I used that machine it used to startle me with coming on unpredictably. Once the cat just walked past it on the pillow - didn't know she could move that fast! In contrast, my M Series Pro I just turn it on with the button because it takes too much huffing and puffing to trigger it.

heh... Babette, I know about the Bell Witch, and I'm NOT from the Volunteer State! (that what us reference librarians are good at... obscure trivia!)

I got's Mama JuJu's phone nummer heres sumwhere........

I'd echo what Joel said... even closeing a door in another room off the same hall would trigger the Vantage. I decided the auto start/auto off feature wasn't worth it. It's a good idea, just too sensitive.

All scoring algorithms in all flow generators are designed to work ONLY WHILE YOU ARE ASLEEP and are breathing autonomously. Any events captured by any flow generator while you are awake are MEANINGLESS.

Cheers,

Bill

Babette, if you enjoy tales of unexplained phenomena, perhaps you should see if your library has a copy of The Devil's Tramping Ground: ( http://www99.epinions.com/content_131628174980 ). It's a nice read for a dark and stormy night!

It contains stories such as The Hoofprints At Bath: ( http://www.nchistoricsites.org/bath/leg ... prints.htm ), The Brown Mountain Lights: ( http://shadowboxent.brinkster.net/brownplasma.html ), and The Maco Light: ( http://www.prairieghosts.com/maco.html )

Oh yeah, I LOVE this stuff!!!

I ran into The Bell Witch just by chance in 1999 as a library book. The movie was not NEARLY as good, btw.

It really creeped me out. I couldn't tell if it was fact or fiction, so I had to Google it.

The phenonmen is historical, but the novel of that title is not. I like the novel's ending premise, though. Highly intriguing.

Thanks for the tips on more creepy reading!

Totally funny story - to me.

I have a picture of me, taken in a historic home, when I was dressed up, supposedly, as one of the former residents.

There is an orb clear and present over my head in the pic.

I like to tell folks it's the ghost of Jane Tolmie, disapproving of my clearly BADLY SEWN dress. (That dress is awful, but I've outgrown all my pretty dresses)

I don't believe orbs are spirits. I do believe they are DUST.

I can't explain moving orbs.

It's on my photobucket site, under "My 19thC Clothing".
