OPUS Masks
OPUS Masks
I am new to cpap and i was windering the thoughts on the OPUS mask. Anyone use one on a nightly basis?
I use the Opus, and really like it. Normally I switch between the Headrest, Opus and use the Activa to give my nares a rest. But,,,, if you get it, you will definitely need Karen's PadACheeks for the side straps!!!. In NeedsDecaf's words, "it leaves wicked strap marks"...but with the PadACheeks, it is extremely comfortable!!!!

Thanks
Thanks to you all. I am trying this mask for my first mask. I sleep with it on my second sleep study, and it felt real comfortable and I sleep well with it so i decided to go with that one. It took me about 5 mins to go to sleep. But I work third shift and I had been up almost 24 hours when I went for the sleep study so that had alot to do with it. Thanks for the opinons.
I'm a real newby and have only used the Opus 360 and the Swift II so I cant compare to other masks, but I did find out a couple things.
I found the Opus 360 really good. Mask fit at bedtime was great with no leak, but during the night I would wake up with massive leaks...I kept tightening it up etc but the same would happen.
Eventually I figured out that since it was an older mask, the actual nose prong rubber part was detaching from the mask itself and leaking around where it slots into the harder plastic. In the middle of the night it's hard to work out whats going on when you wake up. For a while, I thought the prongs were leaking around my nose - not at all as it turns out.. I asked for a newer one to trial with and didn't get the same problem much at all (once when the mask slipped upwards as I rolled around- then when I put the prongs back in place I didn't line the notch up as it was dark and middle of the night).
I have really long hair so if the straps slip I just put the strap underneath my hair at the back.
Once I figured out where the leaks were really coming from I changed prong size and found I could loosen the mask off somewhat. I still get pretty severe marks on my face though - I will keep loosening until I get leaks again I guess.
I intend to buy one for permanent use tho, I figure I can mod one until its perfect for me.
