Nasal Mask cushion

Post by Sleet » Sun Jun 08, 2008 1:34 pm

I've used the mask for about 3.5 weeks. Lately, it has been leaking a bit around the edges. I think it's because of facial oils. I've washed the nasal cushion with mild dilute dish soap.

Do you think facial oils lead to leaking? What else can I do to restore the texture/sealing ability to the nasal cushion?

Daily washing of mask and also washing your face prior to using the mask.
I don't have your mask, but there are times when my comfort-get leaks and I use Mack's silicone putty around the cushion part that comes into contact with my face.

I've found out that a daily wash of nasal pillows and face (the first in the morning. the latter just befor bed) makes sealing much better.

It may also help to give the mask a weekly water and vinegar (1:3) soak for 5 minutes. Then rinse very very well. Seems to remove any left over oils and soap residue and makes the mask seal better for me.
