nose callouse blister thingy

Post by 93stangers » Sun Jun 01, 2008 9:56 am

I've had my cpap for about 2 months now and since I've gotten it I have had a callouse in one of my nostruls. It looks kind of like a blister that popped and is tried out. I have been setting the humidifer as high as it can go and it's not helping. Is there anything I can buy (medication wise) or something I can try to get rid of it? Maybe if I can treat it and get rid of it, it won't come back. It seems to get a little better during the day but when I wake up every morning it's irritated again. Please help me out!!!

I've been plagued with a sore nose since I started using nasal pillows. I've been using Lansinoh (Lanolin - for breast feeding mothers) and Bepanthen (nappy care ointment). It's a good job I can order this stuff over the internet and not have to do it face to face.

In the US you have something called Neosporin, which is apparently effective. We don't have that here unfortunately. I find the Lansinoh and Bepanthen take the edge off it but it's no substitute for giving my nose a rest for the night.

You may want to try a nasal mask, which eliminates mash contact with your nostrils.

If You do get rid of it

Every night I spray a saline solution up the nose to keep the insides moist and then I also spread a bit of Ayr Saline gel around the insides of my nostrils and around the bottom part of my nose. I don't get a sore nose ever.
