Hey everyone... My name is Brian. I'm 31. Have 2 kids. Divorced. and am an apparent "hoser"...LOL!
I knew I had sleep apnea for a long time, and just never did anything about it due to embarrassment. I'm a big guy so that's not hard to imagine I guess... I think I came to the conclusion that I needed to do something about it when one night I was sleep walking and got in my car and drove to work in my boxers... needless to say I woke up half way there and wigged out. I cried for days at the fact that I could have killed myself or someone else. I knew then I had to do something. I talked to my Dr. and he had me see a neurologist and then had a sleep study done. I went to my sleep study and within the first 45 min of falling asleep he had enough to put me on a machine. 2 weeks later I had a machine at the house and was so excited that I was going to sleep again, I went to bed after the guy left. LOL! I slept from 4pm to 8am the next morning and woke up in tears. I love my machine, and had no idea that sleep played such a big part in our lives.
Since getting the machine in Oct. my blood pressure is back to normal, I'm no longer borderline diabetic. I'm no longer sleep walking, or talking in my sleep. I've lost some 40 - 50 lbs. I've dropped 3 pant sizes, and now that I have the energy during the day again, I am back to working out...
I can't thank people enough for the information that I've found on the web about apnea and how it plays into someone's life that has it. I really wonder how much longer I would have lived without ever getting it taken care of.
