where to buy mole skin

Post by tater pie » Mon Jun 06, 2005 8:55 am

I have been using the Respironics Comfort Full full face mask for the last few nights and around the bridge of my nose has become a little irritated. I have heard some people say that "mole skin" helps this condition a lot. Pardon my ignorance, but where would I go to find mole skin. I haven't heard of it before but if it helps, I'll try it. I tried paper tape over my nose yesterday and it caused the mask to leak a lot. Thanks out there to anyone who could help me.

Mole skin is a Dr.Scholls product which you can find at many drugstores or drug store sections of many retailers. Or try drschollsshoes.com and click on accessories.

Mole skin

I usually just go out in the back yard and catch a few of those
little buggers. It doesn't take long to skin them, but it does a
couple of days in the sun to get their skins dried.

If you apply them wet, they stick better

I grew up on a farm in east Texas and my dad used to have to put mole traps out all of the time. The ugly little critters would tear your yard up. I wouldn't want to put anything like that on my face!!!!!!!!!!! You guys are too much.

I use a chamois. I go to the auto parts store and buy the best chamois they have. My wife cuts it out to fit the shape of the mask. Works excellently! Cost isn't a big deal because one chamois should last at least a year.

PS - If your significant other does this for you, just make sure that they leave a hole in the middle. Otherwise, it gets a little hard to breathe.

Perhaps your signifacant other was trying to tell you something! I believe I'd be cutting my own chamois, just in case!

I went to Walgreen's last evening and got the Walgreen's brand moleskin. It comes 3 sheets for $2.99, about 1/2 the price of the Dr. Scholls. It worked great last night. I cut a strip about 2" long and used it over the bridge of my nose under my Ultramirage FF mask. This morning, it came off without a problem and the red mark on the bridge of my nose is significantly less! According to my downloaded info, I haven't had a problem with the mask leaking since I started on APAP about 4 months ago.

Also, I "tweaked" my PB 420E last night using the Silverlining software. I went from 4 - 20 cm on the pressure to 9 - 16 cm. I downloaded a month and a few days worth of info and my AHI average for the whole time was 3.6, which is not too bad. It varied from 1.8 to ~10 for the entire month (compare that to an AHI of 105 for untreated sleep during my sleep study!). My 90% pressure for the last month was 12. So, I'll see how things go for the next few weeks. One thing to note is that this morning, when I woke up, my pressure was 9.5 compared to about 10.5 - 11 every morning in the last month.

This therapy WORKS!
