M Series Pro vs M Series Auto (Respironics)

Post by ReedRichards » Tue May 13, 2008 10:24 pm

So Brain Trust,

I finally successfully fought my insurance company and got them to upgrade my machine from the Plus

I can choose either the PRO or the more expensive AUTO. Which one to choose?

Any thoughts..

I'd go for the auto. It will do everything the pro does and more. You can use it as a cpap(one pressure) or auto. You can use it to easily retitrate yourself if needed.

If your choice is Pro versus APAP, go for the APAP. It can do everything a Pro can and more. Don't ever think about this one,

just do it!!!!!!!!

Reed,

The particular machine model becomes more important after an understanding of your sleep results. I use an M-series Bi-pap Auto from Respironics based upon data attained from a sleep study and from anecdotal evidence through trial and error usage. It works perfectly for me, but it is not the right machine for everyone.

After you know your pressure requirements and your breathing patterns and your tested AI and AHI results from a sleep study, either through a sleep hospital or a self designed study, you can better assess your machine requirements. In general though, an APAP can be configured more broadly to meet the sleep requirements of most people now and into the future.

Reed

I have a M-Series Bipap Auto.
If you can get your insurance to get you one of them then go for it. But by all means if they will get you Cpap Auto I would go for the M-Series.

Ditto to everyones reply about the Auto, by all means, if you have a chance to obtain one,,,, get it..... you can still run in in straight cpap mode if the need arises, but the Auto is a
" Dream machine!"
You certainly wont regret it.

If you don't have to fork out any extra $$$ (which you should not have to), by all means go for the Auto (preferably with A-Flex). You may never need all the bells and whistles that it has, but at least they'll be there if you do......or to at least be able to try them.

Be sure to get the software and card reader, too.

All solid points Brain Trust,

As far as out of pocket expense to me on the machine, it is agreed that 700.00 will be applied and that the rest I would have to take care of, so I'm looking at 225.00 out of my pocket for the Pro and about 325.00 for the M Series Auto. Included in those amounts are the reader, software and the mask. I could complain about it, but is really 2 to 3 hundred going to break me for a better quality of life? (Rhetorical) I think I can manage the expense.

It seems like the Auto M Series is the popular choice. I'll talk to the company today.

If anyone else has anymore comments, I welcome them.

Thanks again Trust!

I spoke to the company and I ordered the Auto M Series. I'll get it next week. I really can't wait to get it. I'll use the Plus for now in the meantime.

I can't wait to get the positive results the rest of you Auto M users are getting.

Which asks the question.

Folks that are using Auto M. What have been your experiences? Is the Auto part of the machine kickin when that extra oxygen is needed.

Any feedback on this would be great.
