OFF TOPIC - Now have PDF pattern available

Post by pjwalman » Thu May 01, 2008 7:35 pm

At some expression of interest, I would like to share my "Pillow Pal" pattern with side sleepers who are having trouble finding a comfortable place for their "face decorations" , and I've come up with a crude pattern consisting of four pages, plus typed instructions, but that is an awful lot of attachments to send to somebody, and I'd like to get them all in one easy-to-email document. I think this would be accomplished in a PDF file, though I'm not sure. Right now it's just a word processing document for the instructions and four JPEG files for the pattern.

Can anybody maybe walk me through what I need to do to consolidate everything? Oh, yeah. And keep things to scale, 'cause I tried just pulling the JPEG files into my word processing document, but then it squishes everything down to fit in the margins. I am, I'd say, medium adept at computer stuff if somebody wouldn't mind maybe directing me to the right place to learn or just walking me through step by step.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you!

Peggy

I once tried "primopdf" that will print to pdf. In my case the (one page with one simple illustration) word file was slightly smaller than the pdf - but that may be bacause of the files properties.

I'm sorry, O! My message was inartfully worded. I meant that two lovely gentlemen had PM'd me and offered to take the files to convert to a PDF file for me. I definitely should have added "and thank you to O. for the mention of the conversion program to look into." My bad, as the kids say.

I have read many of these posts and did pick up that you are a "gentlewoman", O. -- I think it was when I read your response about not using moisturizers under the mask that tipped me off (although, in this day and age, I guess I should not assume that there might not be some men who use moisturizer at night also).

So belatedly let me say thank you, O., for referring me to the program to convert PDF files! I did luck out this time around by having very generous forum members offer to take on the conversion of the files for me, but some day down the road, I may have to be a big girl and learn how to do it myself and will keep that program in mind.

Pillow Pal Pattern

Post by pjwalman » Sat May 03, 2008 10:14 am

Thanks to the generosity of Panhandler, who donated his time and skill to the endeavor, I've been able to put my Pillow Pal pattern into a PDF file. I am happy to share it with any CPAP user that is interested. Just P.M. me with your e-mail address.

It is a crude pattern, nothing fancy, but it's something that anyone could sew pretty much. It works for me because the "legs" of the pillow can be moved around to where I want them under my forehead or chin, and if you put your shoulder into the curve, then your cheek has a pillow to rest on, but there is room for all your "face decorations" to hang off to the side. And you're still propped up because you just throw it on top of your regular favorite pillow.

Here is a picture for anyone interested. Again, I'm no seamstress, so don't laugh too hard!

Thanks, tnmom! You know, I thought of that for maybe five minutes and then concluded, hmm, time to sew, billing, and shipping...and I would manage that when? Anymore, if I can manage to find any free time and can shake off the guilt that I'm not doing chores around the house that I should be doing, then I am trying to snag some sleep, something I'm sure we can all relate to. 'Cause one of these days, I want to join the crowd of people here who say, "I feel so much better now!"

But you do point out something I've been mulling over: That there may be people that don't have a sewing machine or don't want to sew or don't even know anybody they can tap to sew it, and I wondered if maybe that's something Padacheek would be willing to take on since it's also CPAP related. It's important to me that the pattern be for free, kind of my gift to fellow CPAPers, but if people really didn't want to fuss with it and still wanted the pillow, maybe Karen would be willing to take it on, of course charging for her time, materials, shipping and handling, etc. It's something I should probably explore. Thank you for giving me that little prod I needed to get over being shy about it and asking her. Worst thing that can happen is she says no. Right?

Thanks again!

Peggy

absolutely, might as well ask!!!

and I completely understand about the time thing--- I have two kids under age 10, and I feel like I need about 8 more hours in each day.

the pillow looks great!

We're apparently talking two different heads here, SnoreDog! I was speaking of the one at the top of the shoulders.
