well after 3 months on my bipap auto.....i am not sure how its going.
i still only average about 3-4 hours a night with the mask. i have problems going to sleep with it on. i uusally have to doze off, then when i wake up put it on and go back to sleep.
i am able to wear it and not tell air is going in and out b/c i am breathing well with it on. i cant "feel" the air pressure unless i take the mask off and i feel it blowing hard then.....so my comfort level there has improved.
still much of the time it just doesnt feel comfortable on my face. its allergy season too now, which is making my face nose itch more.
hard to go to sleep with the mask on, and sometimes to stay asleep with it on.....just wish i could sleep 6 or 7 hours regualry in comfort...

If you don't have the software and card reader, I would strongly suggest that you get it, so you'll know what's going on with your therapy.

Re: its been 3months
You're apparently using it for only half the night, and you're not sure how its going? You're being too polite with yourself.MartyR wrote:well after 3 months on my bipap auto.....i am not sure how its going. i still only average about 3-4 hours a night with the mask.
You choose to doze off without putting your mask on. You do that because you're convinced you won't fall asleep otherwise. You've actually developed a sleep routine that is destructive to your health and therapy - and if you want to stop choking yourself each night you will have to choose to break this habit. Of coures, you can keep on doing what you're doing: letting youreslf be choked when you sleep.i have problems going to sleep with it on. i uusally have to doze off, then when i wake up put it on and go back to sleep.
That's very good!i am able to wear it and not tell air is going in and out b/c i am breathing well with it on. i cant "feel" the air pressure unless i take the mask off and i feel it blowing hard then.....so my comfort level there has improved.
That can be very annoying.still much of the time it just doesnt feel comfortable on my face. its allergy season too now, which is making my face nose itch more.
The way to do that is to start by training yourself not to be in bed with the mask off ever. Its a deal that has to be done with yourself, and has a few simple rules:hard to go to sleep with the mask on, and sometimes to stay asleep with it on.....just wish i could sleep 6 or 7 hours regualry in comfort...
- Head does not - ever - touch the pillow without the mask
- Put your mask on before lying down - no ifs not buts.
- If you feel the urge to pull off you mask - treat it as an idicatation to get out bed.
- Get out of bed if you don't feel you can wear the mask. Do something quiet and relaxing - return to bed only when you are ready to lie down with the mask on your face.
- Be firm and kind with yourself, and very clear about your priorities.
