Profiles and Anonymity!

Post by Fredman » Sun Apr 20, 2008 3:29 pm

A great feature of cpaptalk.com is that as a member you can provide as much or as little personal information you would like, including avatars, equipment and the like.

I appreciate the fact that in this day and age, protecting your privacy is important economically and for some possibly personal safety.

I personally put as much information in my profile as I am comfortable. I saw an earlier post asking where everyone lives. Interesting to see the different locales and how we identify with our birth places and places we have lived and now live.

Also of note was how many US and a large contingent us wild and crazy cousins to the north...no not North Dakota or Montana, I am talking about the true "hosers" Canadians (reference the McKenzie Brothers - Second City tv show in 80's) are members. Anyways the great thing about this forum is the community whether we know your gender, age, or locale. The common thread we share makes all those things unimportant. I quite enjoy a number of the folks here - and many of entertaining as well as informative. If I can name some of them...hope you don't mind: rested gal, rooster, wulfman, goofproof, and country4ever and many many more. The rest of U too!

I have no problem telling anyone what town I live in. But don't ask me to point out my address on a map or give my real name. That is how I protect my anonimity.

Strange Brew! I loved those guys...whatever happened to those wild "McKenzie" brothers? They were much more classy and clever than the innane follow-ons like "Dumb and Dumber."

Yeah I liked them too, but better yet was John Candy from the same show that spawned the McKenzies brothers...and who went on to stardom and I bet had sleep apnea. Not sure if he was diagnosed.

I heard rumours that the McKenzie brothers were going to be revived for another movie. Should have a movies composed of brothers and brother based acts, like the Hansons, and the Hanson brothers could you imagine that....3 brothers that look like chicks, two brothers that are hockey crazy and two brothers that just like beer! That would be a "Strange Brew"

I don't find many people that remember Second City TV!!!! As far as I'm concerned it was just as good as SNL and sometimes better!!! They seemed to take more liberties!!!
Hosers, Aye??
Or how about the Pharmacist?? "Take a pill...."

The world has become so PC that those kinds of shows probably wouldn't make it today because some narrow minded pinhead would be offended and I guess wouldn't know where to find the channel change button on the remote.......

Sheesh!!!
cheers

Wars arise from a failure to understand one another's humanness. Instead of summit meetings, why not have families meet for a picnic and get to know each other while the children play together?

Sorry I am not only a hoser like the rest of you, I am a Canadian EH!

Well if it's a Fosters purchased in the U.S., it is brewed in Canada.

A beer is a beer is a beer. I will drink UK, US, Canadian, Australian, Dutch, Belgium, Italian, German and any other country...well except, I am sorry, but I have to say NOT Chinese beer.

A hoser has to have some standards eh! No lead eh! I might try a Chinese beer if they get the lead out eh. I better stop, I am not being like a very good canuck eh, we are by nature a very gentle people...don't want to upset anyone eh! Except when it comes to beer and hockey eh!

Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis, I think were the Mackensies, if I'm not mistaken. Dave was on the Brett Butler sitcom, and shows up from time to time still. I am surprised he never took off more. Catherine O'Hara was another 2nd city alumni too, I think, as well as Andrea Martin (Big Fat Greek Wedding). Possibly Martin Short and Eugene Levy, too?

Rick Moranis has had a rather long movie career--I've liked him over the years in movies like Ghostbusters. I really liked Strange Brew--I really appreciate clever wit served up bone dry.

Just don't ask for a Fosters in Australia or you will get laughed out of the pub! The guys from my companies OZ office claim it's a very low level brand there and basically marketed solely for export to Americans. Ahhh...advertising.

They claim it is akin to walking into a US bar and proclaiming, proudly "Bartender! Milwaukee's Best! Draft please!"
