ive been using my cpap machine for a little under two weeks now, and every day when i wake up, my teeth hurt so bad to the point where i can't even brush my teeth or eat breakfast in the morning! i'm thinking it must be because of the chin strap on my mask. if i loosen the strap, the mask slips off, and when i tighten it, teeth pain. i don't know what to do!
AND how long does it take to start feeling better?! i still feel so tired during the day, and i still wake up a million times at night, even though it's not from apneas but to put the mask back on after unconsciously ripping it off or to put the pillows back in my nose after they slipped out. how frustrating!!!
my teeth are killing me.
Teeth hurt
Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you're diving right in there trying to make this work, and with that attitude, you should see your problems being resolved one by one.
About the chin strap. It probably is why your teeth hurt. There are several different styles and another one may be more comfortable. I'm guessing you are a mouth breather since you got the chin strap? There are other ways you could hold your mouth closed. Don't panic, but some people on here use tape or denture adhesive. Some have even tied the leg to a pair of tights in place of the chin strap. I tried that but it kept slipping due to my hair. If my hair was long enough I'd put it in a ponytail and tie the strap above it. Another alternative is wearing a full face mask.
It may be that the style of your mask isn't best for you or you may need to make some tweaks to make it more secure and keep the pillows from popping out during the night. Someone will probably stop thru here soon and give you some links to how others have tweaked their masks to make them function better for them.
I wouldn't worry too much about taking it off in your sleep just yet. You should do that less and less as you get more used to it.
When will you feel better? Well, once your mask is staying on and in place and you're sleeping thru the night, and you get a little catch-up sleep, you should start seeing improvement. Did you read under the light bulb at the top of the page? It will help you know what to expect.

Is it possible that you are grinding your teeth since you are using a chin strap? Maybe a mouth guard is in order.
