Backup power question

Post by Rumur » Thu Apr 17, 2008 7:56 am

I had a power outage the other night due to some storms in the area. Of course I couldn't use my machine and had to try to go without it for a short time. That got me to thinking. A battery backup for my machine is like $300, couldn't I use a UPS box for a computer to use for backup power? Just plug the machine into the box and the box in the wall. Of course, I would want to take it apart and disconnect the little buzzer that is in there first.

Would it work?

The short answer is , Yes - it will work.

It won't last as long as using straight DC power but will work in a pinch.

Yes, the alarm may keep you awake.

Despite what others will say, I have successfully used my $30. car jump starter to power my Auto M 'all nite long', no humidifier but since it was just a test, I left the humidifier plugged into A/C power, ha. This is where passover humidification comes in.

If you have a jump starter, give it a test drive.
