Puritan Bennett humidifier leak

Post by LabDog » Sat Apr 05, 2008 9:27 am

I have a GoodKnight 425 bi level with heated humidifer. The water chamber does not appear to leak itself but after heating and being used for a few hours the table on the bottom of the machine is soaked. I am careful not to overfill and the adaptor is inserted tightly and correctly. I have tried lowering the heat setting to no avail. The company I purchased it from sent another water chamber but it does the same thing. Any thoughts.

My 420e's is the same unit, it has never leaked,

are you taking the bottom off the tank to clean it? Once you do that it may leak, you should never take your tank apart.

SnoreDog,

No, I have not removed the bottom plate. I am using it as it came from the box.

well, if you have a spare hose (large one) remove the tank from the humidifier housing, fill it with water to the fill line, connect one hose to the machine to the horizontal inlet, the other from the vertical outlet to the mask (by-pass the tiny hose), use the hose with the tiny PB hose and connect it to the tiny fitting directly on the machine. Put on the mask, turn on the machine at observe any leak while the tank is out of the HH housing. If it is leaking, it will show up under pressure.

Make sure the machine remains above the tank, you don't want any water going back towards the machine and getting inside.

I've been using my humidifier for 3 years, removing the bottom for cleaning every now and then - and have had absolutely no problems.
