Swift and My Nose

Post by DanishLass » Wed May 25, 2005 2:20 pm

Anyone have problems using the nasal pillows and having it hurt the inside of your nose and stuff you up?

Any suggestions?

Try Ayr gel found in walmart stores and try a heated humidifier if you do not have one. Give the swift some time you and your nose will get use to it. th

Some trick I have tried this week:

1) Loosen the headgear until it doesn't seal anymore - then tighten it JUST ENOUGH to get a seal and STOP! Too much up-pressure hurts really bad.

2) Get your hands on a tube of AYR gel (near the nasal saline sprays) and put some inside each nostril. Lubes up the pillows, helps with the seal and makes it easier to tolerate.

3) Use the smallest pillows that work for you. I noticed a dramatic change in comfort going from the large to the medium.

Last night, I even forgot I had the Swift on... It's been great!

Take off you hoseheads!

I had an opposite experience Re; the size of the nasal pillow I used a medium but could hear that lovely sound of HISSING......leaks, so I upped my np to the ''large'' and when I print out my silverlining report for the 420E, I am seeing less leak % number, so it proved the point at least for me.

As far as nose pain/etc. try putting the whole shebang on long before retiring, get it comfy, (if looking slightly odd wandering around with this on...) carefully remove, I then slip it on in exactly the same position night after night, and have less occurrences of having to play with the da--- strpas for a hr and trying to go to sleep. Works for me IMHO of course.

Looser strapping will prevent the jamming sensation........

First night with mediums ones on it hurt. Then I had to ease in and let my nose get used to it. Now it is almost my exclusive. Just have to let the ole sensitive nares get usde to it.

hmmmm...Must be why they wisely include ALL the sizes in the Swift package.

For ME, I use the LARGEST size that works. Every once in awhile I try a medium or smaller and the leaking is bad news unless I snug it up way past comfortable.

AYR gel is definitely good stuff.

Rotating with another type of interface made the toughening up process a lot easier.
