He said I could get the Respironics Auto with A/flex M series. My question is this: Can the DME ask for my current CPAP back? It's all paid for because I've had it 13 months and got a letter from the DME saying its mine now. He also agreed to the Fisher paykel h150 humidifier. My current DME only deals with Respironics, Resmed, and Puritan Bennett. The doctor is trying to get me a new DME.
Well I guess the main purpose of this post is to find out if I have to give my old machine back. And do you think Medicare will approve the Autopap?
My pressure for the past 14 months has been 13. In my latest study, My pressure was raised to 18. I think the problem was the large leak all over my face and in my eyes all night during the study. The technician said her report showed no leaks, but I know what I felt. I had to hold the mask in place to stop the leaks and of course when I fell asleep my hand let go of the mask and the "tornado" hit my face again. What a night!!!! I'd rather use an APAP than have any more sleep studies.
The doctor said he would use the range of 6 to 20. Is that okay???? From what I've been reading here, I think it's too broad of a range.

CPAP & Insurance
Great questions, but I would suggest making a list of your questions and calling your insurance carrier or your HR person at work. We can all give advice, but it's your insurer who's going to make the decisions. I always ask my insurance carrier back up these types of questions in writing or show me in my certificate of insurance booklet where the info is located. Cheers
Well, you did better than I did getting a letter from your DME supplier that your CPAP was yours at the completion of the 13 month capped rental!!! I even requested one and was told they (the DME supplier) did not provide such letters!
I started CPAP on 06 Oct 06. I celebrated that 13 months and being shed of that sheister DME supplier!!!
One week ago yesterday I finished 7 nights of sleeping w/my new Resmed VPAP Auto. I have Medicare. I assume if you've had the data to establish you have "failed" CPAP therapy and your doctor provide the data to back up his claim of medical necessity for the new xPAP that Medicare will reimburse for it. Of course it would be another 13 month capped rental. (But I have a good DME now so I won't mind that at all).
