Be sure to read (under Lifestyle Changes) what begins with: "Here are some things to consider doing before you invest in a CPAP machine:"

Any comments?

The article seemed fairly informative. I do think that people should be aware of what using cpap involves before they buy a machine. I only had a couple weeks to learn all about it and to ask my doctor about apap vs cpap etc. I was glad I did a little research, since my apap machine shows me that I am using a lot lower pressure than what I would have been made to use on a cpap. Testing is done on your back, and I am a side and stomach sleeper. I found it interesting that of course they mention losing weight, since again I was told that cpap would help me lose some since apnea can cause higher levels of cortisol. All in all, it did give a good overview.

Interesting article relating apnea and depression. My sleep doc, a neurologist, had me pegged for depression on the first visit. I told him I wasn't depressed though, merely low energy and had been that way most of my life. Post-xPAP, my energy's up. Imagine that.

Apnea affects so many aspects of life . . .
