HumidAire Broke, now what?

Post by fishmaycraft » Fri Mar 21, 2008 8:55 am

I am using an Escape S8 with the Humidaire 3i attachment. I've been traveling a lot lately and somehow the flip down water reservior cover is now broke where it wont click in place so air leaks from all around it. I have been rigging it with my wifes hair band and that seems to work for now. My insurance wont cover a replacement, and the waranty went out last month so they want over $200 to get a replacement Humidaire.

Is there a cheaper source out there? Also, what would you recomend for a smaller more portable and sturdy unit to pick up for traveling (my expense)?

Thanks

FMC

While the F&P 150 is a better unit it does not travel well. You might try cpapauction. I just looked and there are 3 up for bids at present. One is at $50 and the other two ar $100. Still less than the $200 you quoted.

You can try two options:

1] Try your home owners insurance, depending on your deductable.
2] WHO told you your health insurance won't pay for another? Your insurance or your DME supplier? Talk to your sleep doctor, maybe he will write you a script for a new one due to the original being broken.

Perhaps you can buy a part for it, to fix it? If replacing the flip up cover will work to fix it, you can buy it on CPAP.com for $29.99.

Good luck to you!
