Do you get better sleep with the humidifier?

Post by MTmama » Tue Mar 11, 2008 7:35 pm

I have a humidifier on my CPAP machine but never hardly use it. I'm wondering if you feel like your sleep is improved with the use of it. Maybe I'm missing out on some quality sleep by not using it!

Some people do not use them or need them. If you are comfortable w/o and aren't dried out by the airflow, then you may not need one. I have to have mine or my sinuses and throat dry out.

I've never not used mine, but I like mine turned off. (passover Mode) I don't like warm. Jim

I have bad allergies and mild asthma. Before using CPAP, I would wake up in the morning seriously congested. I seem to get a lot of allergy relief with the humidifier running with my machine. Having moist air pumped though my sinuses has, I think, been the reason.

I've always used mine. After my first night of CPAP, my throat felt VERY dry, had a humidifier the next night, wouldn't be without it!

Feel terrible if I forget to switch it on or it runs out of water.
It has made a huge improvement to my sensitive (allergic) nose and asthma.

I have "accidentally" bumped my humidifier control from "1" to "0" a few times, and yes, I don't sleep as well.
After a day or two I notice it is off, and switching it on gets me back to good sleep.
I guess that counts as a "blind test".
