ComfortGel 2 Hose Disconnect

Post by defrankc » Sat Mar 08, 2008 11:55 pm

Hello,
I have been using a ComfortGel 2 the past month or so (replacing a Mirage Quattro Full-Face Mask which I have a permanent scar on my nose from using) with great results. However, one thing that I don't like about the mask is that there is no quick disconnect from the hose.

What advice or experiences has anyone had with disconnecting from the hose? I'm afraid that wiggling the hose everyday will eventually break the mask or stretch the hose, and didn't know if there were any alternatives. I can't just leave the mask connected on my nightstand because I have two dogs and I don't want to think about what they might do with the mask if they get the hankering!

Thanks!

To me it seems slipping the hose off the mask is about as quick a disconnect as you could ask for. I sometimes disconnect my hose from the mask several times a night and have for over a year with the same hose. I don't understand the problem. I have a couple of masks with quick disconnects on them and they are more trouble trying to get them apart not to overlook the same thing trying to get them back together in the dark room. I like the KISS theory. Cheers jim

When I used the CGel , I always just unhooked the hose like Jim said. As with all my other masks. It is just so much easier. To me , the quick disconnect is more of a PITB than anything else. It wont hurt the hose. I have 3 other masks with the disconnect thing on them, I never use it.

Hi, I'm with Jim on this. It doesn't take that much force to wiggle it on or off so I don't worry about breaking anything. As for the hose, I figure it's eventually going to have to be replaced as it's the "weaker" part of the system.

Anyway, I usually have to remove it once a night to visit the bathroom. The only other times are morning when I take the hose and mask off for cleaning and leave them hanging in the bathroom all day and in the evening when I put the machine back together for use.

I'm from the other end of the spectrum, I use a 10 ft hose. I take mine off the HH and hang it on the wall, mask still on it. (Stereo Speakers) Surely you have a place in the home the dogs can't get to, if not you need a bigger redneck porch. Jim

I'm with Goof....I disconnect mine at the HH -- even in the middle of the night. just wrap the hose around my head if I need to trip to the BR or Kitchen for a drink.

The dog doesn't invade the bedroom (much) and the cats seem to ignore the whole apparatus, so I guess I'm pretty lucky there.....
The only time I disconnect the mask from the hose is when I clean it.....or swap to a different one.

cheers
