...details are a little gross, please don't judge! I thought it was important to mention.:
So sometime late last night I sneezed into my Mirage Quattro while wearing it and half asleep. They seemed to be very "dry" sneezes, as sneezes go, and it was past midnight so I immediately just went back to bed without turning on the light, inspecting the mask, etc.
Well, I sleep less well than usual, and when I get up....I notice that nothing is coming out of the air vents (tiny and built into the plastic on the Quattro....and right where a sneeze would possibly hit). Nothing at all. EVERY SINGLE ONE of the air vent holes except a few was sealed shut. Gross, but also scary, especially on a full face mask.
Previously I had the Ultra Mirage FF, and the venting was 4-5 much larger holes near the top of the mask...I don't think the same kind of incident was possible with that design. Just wanted to warn other Quattro wearers to be aware and learn from my embarassing, gross, scary mistake!!
How to suffocate yourself with your Quattro...

good to know
It is good that you posted. I just got that same mask and I have not use it yet. I will keep this in mind the next time I sneezed.
That is good to know - if I ever sneeze in my quattro, I'll be sure to remove & check it out.
Thanks!
Mindy

I don't have the Quattro but had never thought about the effects of sneezing. I have a Fisher and Paykel 431 and when I was sick a few weeks ago wore it some. Of course I was coughing and doing some sneezing.
Your post is scary enough that I will keep an eye on the vents of my ffm.

Guest,
It's great... that you had the gumption to post it.
When I had the "bad bug" back in December I didn't have the problem of the Hybrid vent ports being sealed by expelled gook... but woke one morning to find the inside of the mask icky with it. It's a wonder that my mask vents weren't sealed over. But some gook pushed through the ports to the outside of the mask shell. Vent port size has a large part in that, I s'pose.
However "yuck" the topic may seem.... it is surely one that very many hosers many encounter and should be mindful of.
Thanks again for shedding light on serious danger... and for giving me a twisted chuckle.
