Chemical odor of Comfort Gel Mask

Post by grumpygirl » Tue Feb 05, 2008 8:52 am

Hello All- Just got my Comfort Gel nasal mask in the mail yesterday from CPAP.com. It seems to fit okay and I could possibly get used to the feeling of it on my face. However, I noticed that the mask has a very strong chemical odor I imagine is coming from the "squishy" blue inner pad. I washed the whole thing last night and let it air dry but it still smells like chemicals. I don't like the smell and don't know if I can stand it all night long-plus I wonder about the safety of breathing in that chemical compound all night long. Has anyone else had this experience with the Comfort Gel? Will it fade over time or does it continue to hold that chemical smell? Thanks for any help!!

Soak it in warm soapy water for 30 mins. or even up to an hour.
Washinng is not enough, but the soaking may solve the problem.

I soaked mine in a diluted vinegar and water mix (no stronger than 1:4, I used ~1:8-10) for an hour. This removed any smell at all after I washed off the vinegar mix.
