I am new and have a few questions

Post by sleepy0808 » Fri May 13, 2005 7:06 am

Hello
I just started using my Cpap machine last night and I already have problems. I am hoping someone can tell how to fix it.
I was all set to go to bed and turn on my Remstar Auto with C-flex and when I put on the mask (full) I found that the air pressure was to high. I was unable to breath normally through my nose. And I felt as if I was in a wind storm and unable to breath normally. So I was going to adjust it, couldn't figure out how to do it. Is there anyone out there how might have the same equipment? And would know how to adjust that pressure?

thanks!

Janelle

Sounds like both Ramp and CFlex are off. Want to set Ramp to On and Cflex probably to 3 until you are used to the pressure. Also sounds like maybe it is set to CPAP instead of APAP.

Sleepy,

What is you pressure range? If you have it in the auto mode you would not need to make any adjustments. Do you know if the C-flex is on? If so, what is the setting?

My range for pressure is 5 - 15. I am not sure if the c-flex is on, would this be a good thing to have on??

At 5cm you should not feel as though it's blowing too hard. The C-flex will make it much easier to exhale against, so if you are have troubles with pressure I think it would be a good thing to have on. Do you have the smartcard reader and software? This is very useful for tracking down these problems. If you want to PM me with your e-mail address I can e-mail back a scan of the clinicians manual. This will show you haow to check your settings and make changes if you require. I would not change your pressure settings, but you may want to adjust the C-flex and just check to see that your are actually in auto-mode.
