Issue with Goodnight 420G

Post by MandoJohnny » Mon Feb 04, 2008 9:00 pm

I do project work in a different city that where I live, so I fly round trip to the same place every week. I got tired of lugging my CPAP, so I bought a second one, a Goodnight 420G to leave in the work city. I like it. It's pretty spartan compared with my Resmed S8, but it seems to do the trick.

There is one thing that seems quirky about it. I am hoping someone with experience with that model can tell me if it is an anomaly or if it is normal. When I hit the on button, nothing happens for about a half second. Then the thing noisily sputters to life and spools up. The display even shows the pressure increase. It starts at about 2 and then climbs up to 11, which is my pressure. It takes about 2 seconds to get up to speed, then it runs fine all night. It is the opposite when I shut it off. It does not spool down like my S8. I hit the botton and the blower stops NOW.

If this is normal, I have no issue with it. I am just concerned this might be a leading indicator of something. I am going to contact the place I bought it, but I want some independent info before I do.

Sound similar to how my 420E behaves: Slight delay in getting the fan whirring - you're not even sure you pressed on unless you're looking a the display, (Power On Self Test maybe?) then gradually climbing to the max. pressure and no spool down, stops in its tracks the minute you press the off button.
