Sleeping other places besides the comfort of my own home ?
Sleeping other places besides the comfort of my own home ?
Do you take your machine everywhere ? Even if you're only going to be out of town one or 2 nights ? What about camping ? We do that every weekend in the summer ? What am I to do ?
Yes, everywhere. I've been on CPAP for 13 months and I have not slept without it for a single night. It's been to various hotels, my kids' houses, and a friend's house. I don't camp right now, but when I start again I will have a 12V power supply. I'm serious about this therapy, I see what it has done for me, and I can't imagine sleeping without Wendy (the machine).
I have a friend who does not travel with his. He was in town last week for a conference, and complained all week about how tired he was. Duh!

CPAP therapy is so easy you can do it in your sleep!
My first six week, I was skeptical that I'd take it on one or two night trips, too.
Once I began sleeping all night every night with it, the thought of being without it, with the attendant bad feeling in the AM, makes me cringe.
I've drug it along for overnights and really, it's not a hassle. Camping now, I haven't done. But I did successfully use it in a Youth Hostel! I asked for a private room, and they had plenty of room and were happy to accommodate me.
Remember to bring an extension cord, in case the plug in is not right close, or that one doesn't work and you have to use the one farther away.
Cheers,
Babs

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

I take my machine everywhere. The one trip I didn't I had a hard time sleeping without it. I learned my lesson, now if I go, the machine goes too--even if only one night.

We used to camp when the kids were all home. Never did like camping much as I do not sleep well at all!!!
I am with you Babs on this one!!! The creature comforts are worth it.
Besides if I would get down on the ground I might not be able to get help without a block and tackle.

In the two years that I’ve been on CPAP, I’ve used it every night except one -- a night I spent flying non-stop across country on the red-eye.
One of my principal considerations in picking my machine was choosing the one most camper (12-volt) friendly.

Speaking of Red-Eye's ...
So there I am on an airplane ... flying cross-country on a Friday night leaving DC at about 9:30pm headed for an 11:30 landing at SFO.
I lean back ... and fall asleep. I wake up with this strange sensation that I'm being "watched". I open my eyes and the three people in the row ahead of me are all on their knees on their seat, and peering over the top of their seat-backs at me. Both people in my row are staring at me. I look across the aisle and several rows are all staring.
I say ... "WHAT ???"
The guy directly in front of me says ... "That's the damn loudest snoring that any of us have ever heard in our lives. Since we can't get any rest, we figured we'd just be entertained by it."
Shortly there-after ... I got my CPAP machine.
