Provigil

Post by quilterB » Sun Jan 20, 2008 1:02 pm

Have been on cpap for about a year and a half. Took a while to find the right mask, etc. but have been using it faithfully. Still tired during the day. Had another sleep study and a nap study(that was fun!!). Now there is talk of putting me on Provigil. I am really trying to limit the use of medication. Would appreciate people's experiences, good or bad, with this medication.

Thanks for the input,
quilterB

What was your single prescribed pressure from your sleep study?

What pressure range is your autopap set for?

Are you using software to download your Smart Card yourself?

If so, would you be willing to email me a PDF of your most recent download? I'm not a doctor, but I'd like to see what kind of data you've been getting. The most recent "daily details" graphs are what I prefer to look at...not the averages over long periods of time.

It's Okay

I took it for years, but found that it sort of started to loose effect recently. One very positive thing that I can say about Provigil is that I was taking it daily for years and then stopped abrubtly (no tapering-down) without any kind of withdrawal symptoms. That's always a plus. Oh, I also found that it brightened my mood up a little and had a mild antidepressant effect.

Best of luck to you, whatever your decision is!

My experience was positive too. It's an antihistimine - not a seriously high-level drug.

Do take Rested Gal up on her offer - can't get better advice than from her!

Good luck!

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

Thanks for the response. I should find out in around 2 weeks if this is the direction I will take.
