EncoreViewer randomly 'skips' details ...

Post by rwalther » Sat Jan 12, 2008 10:13 am

Does anyone else have this issue?

I have EncoreViewer software from Respironics, and it uses the standard SmartCard and Reader. Everything seems to work fine, except that every week or so, the reports don't correctly generate the overnight "Detail" page.

I know "some" of the info about the night is getting on the card, because the trending graphs show all the information from the missing nights ... but there's no "Detail" page.

Is this a known bug in the software ... or am I (a) doing something wrong, or (b) the proud father of a brand new software bug?

The "missing nights data" of the M Series machines is discussed many, many times......daily, weekly, monthly.....since 2006. I'm having a hard time comprehending how these discussions are being missed by so many people.
It's a glitch/flaw/bug/F.U. in the FIRMWARE in the M Series machines and the only apparent way around it is to erase your smart card after a certain number of downloads. Some do it daily and some do it after about 5 nights .

If you have Encore Viewer, there's a utility program at a website called mycpap.org that you can download.

Understood. Thanks. Sorry for not seeing the other info on that.

I'm a rookie, and just getting oriented.

Not a problem. If I come across a little "rough" sometimes, just ignore it. In this case, it's been frustrating because the manufacturer created the problem and is not even remotely interested in addressing it.....and won't even acknowledge that it exists.

Good luck with your therapy.

I take it that Respironics has not released any new firmware for their M-series machiens lately? If they did, would their be a way for end-users to upgrade the firmware, or would you have to send it in?

Thank You,

Den...

Respironics is transitioning to their new owner... Phillips, and surely they didn't want to lose scores-of-millions of bucks on resolving the missing-data issue with the M-series units. Not to mention, an inevitable share price drop if the news of the issues went "headline public" before the merger / sale. Truth be, that long-standing data capture and presentation bug leads obviously to questioning the consistent reliability of the therapy firmware as well.

Whether the problem lies in the smartcard, the smartcard reader/writer or with the M-series firmware..... or a combination of one or more items, it needs to be thoroughly resolved. The Encore Viewer release proved that the problem does not live in the software.

I hate being a PITA, but they need a severe jolt. My plans are to devote a small, but well-advertised, web site to the M-series problem in the near future. In large part because they blew me off when I presented the problem to them months ago in precise wording with visual evidence of the well-known results of the bug(s).

Of course, how long before it gets constructed and published depends on my available time and energy. I guarantee that they'll be livid when it hits the web, earmarking visual details with in-depth descriptions of the widespread data-missing problem in the M-series flow generators. After all, it is ONLY a medical device used by multiple millions to treat various forms of Sleep Disordered Breathing in order to preserve health and life as much as possible.

Since they can't build a "M", that records data like it's supposed to, the cheapest thing would be to remove that ability, problem solved. After all they know the owners of their products have no use in seeing how their treatment is going, neither do most Doctors and DME's or INS companies.

Just keep the money flowing, that's what matters. Jim
