GoodKnight 425 for Travel?

Post by Suz-E-Q » Fri Jan 11, 2008 7:41 pm

I have a Respironics M and am looking for a Bilevel machine that is lighter and easier to travel with. What do folks think of the GK 425 and humidifier? I would love to get opinions before I buy it.

I've read that it doesn't give you any data

I got the GoodKnight 425 when I entered college (2006) and I think its great! It is very quiet, small, and lightweight, traveling back and forth between school and home is pretty easy. The noise and size were the two things I was concerned about, and both of those factors are much better than the last machine I had. It depends on what features you are looking for.

The only features that my old machine had that I miss are the data (it doesn't have a smartcard ability) and an alarm if I take my mask off in the middle of the night. Instead of beeping, it will just keep blowing air, once or twice I've woken up to find my mask off and blowing next to me (I am a somewhat heavy sleeper).

The GoodKnight 425 also has specific hoses/humidifiers that it uses, so getting replacement hoses has taken slightly longer to order from the medical supply company, but otherwise I haven't had any issues with that aspect. Its help up really well since I've had it, even with all the travel and rough treatment it can tend to get from me.

Thanks HC. Good to hear that it is light and easy to use. I travel for work and am just getting tired of hauling around my 5+ lbs of Resp M. I guess I should get an extra hose with it. Good to know it is fairly rugged too. The website indicated that it uses Silverlinings data collection? Maybe I am confused...I will recheck that.

I appreciate the info.
