Where to Buy
Where to Buy
HAPPY NEW YEARS TO ALL!!!!
I know I haven't been on in a while.
I went to my second sleep study and they reduced my pressure from 7 to 6.
Now today I am going to bring back my loaner and purchase my own machine.
The doctors sent me to a Home Health Care place near me and the cost worked out to be just over $2,000 Is this good/normal? And is it safe to purchase this over the internet? Does anyone know of places in Canada or over the net where I can get for cheaper and is safe to purchase from.
Thanks!

I buy my equipment from cpap.com
I think quite a few Canadians do, too.
If you find a lower price for something at another online store, cpap.com will price match it.
I've not had any problem with purchasing over the internet. Been very well pleased shopping that way.

I will go to my apt today, find the best machine for me and come back and look for one. I guess I can rent the loaner for a few more weeks.
AND you will be able to purchase YOUR CHOICE of a fully data capable xPAP instead of being provided w/some bare-bones CPAP by a local DME supplier at an exhorbitant price if you purchase thru cpap.com

They will continue to do this becasue there are people willing to pay it.
Smile and enjoy.

Or have insurances willing to pay the local DME suppliers but NOT the online DME suppliers.
Or the poor soul newbies who don't have access to a 'puter or are not aware of these online apnea support forums before they get stuck making their first equipment purchase.

Hi,
Being also from Canada I was horrified at the price I was given, just like you ,$2000.00 for a base entry machine. Perhaps I would have simply gone along with the cost and have my extended mdedical pick it up but they want a follow up sleep study done before they will pay and in BC they are now booking for September 2008 and only for high priority people and follow up studies are not high priority. I have been 6 weeks waiting to make an appointment for the fall...
So I started to look around and found cpap.com and ordered from them and for about half the price I have a APAP CFLEX machine with data card and all the other parts that I need and the best part is no duty or taxes were charged when entering Canada.
When I was discussing the needs of my insurance company with them I asked why they would pay so much and they said they just pay what the bill says it costs... and then I asked if they would pay for a out of country order and they said yes...
If I have a problem with my unit I will be on my own for a fast repair is not likely but with the $1100 that I did not spend in Canada on a CPAP machine I can afford to buy a spare...

Hiya,
I'm one of those unfortunate newbies who didn't know any better. I paid over $AU2000 for my setup, and I still didn't have a smart card reader and software. And the Australian prices are SERIOUSLY ripoff (although we're also stuck with ripoff postal charges from the US - but that's something you don't need to worry about). Go for the best machine and mask at the cheapest prices (the advice above is great) - because chances are that you'll need a poultice more cash to pay for extra masks as you work your way through to find one that works properly.
