cpapauction - is it safe to buy there??

Post by Zoeybd » Sun Dec 30, 2007 8:13 pm

I am just curious how buying from this website has worked for you? Were you pleased? Are most of these things supplies that people didn't like or use and want to get rid of? I just want to be careful.

I have had good luck purchasing things from cpapauction.com. I have purchased a few masks from it that were either new or like new.

I have sold a few things on the site that I had picked up that would not work for me -- mainly a power cord and some filters that were the wrong size.

It is a great way to try different masks without the full retail cost.

Be sure and read the feedback of the seller, the description carefully, and ask any questions prior to bidding.

I did recently purchase a mask that was very worn and the headgear was all stretched out. It was from a new seller without feedback, was not a cpaptalk.com member or cpap.com customer. I now check to see if they are forum members or cpap.com customers.

I have had nothing but good experances at least so far. Several have bought masks that have posted they had some issues. I know of one that was supposed to be used but was in effect almost worn out. One mask was sold as new that seemed to be repackaged and may or may not have been used. Most have had good results but it depends on the seller sometimes.

I recently bought my Opus mask there. It was a brand new mask and I paid significantly less than I would have paid retail. I am very pleased with the mask and the transaction. I bought from a seller who had a lot of positive feedback. So as others have said, just make sure to check seller feedback before you bid and if you have any questions about the item, be sure to ask the seller about it before you bid also. I'd definitely use cpapauction again without any hesitation.

I think it's a fantastic option for us to have available. The one caution I would add to those already listed here is to be careful of description accuracy. I noticed just today that there are a couple of machines listed in the auto cpap category that are not auto machines. I also noticed the other day that a picture provided didn't match the description given. I sent an email to the seller, and he said that while the picture was wrong, the description was correct. The problem is that cpapauction did not allow him to add that info to the posting since someone had already bid on it.

I bought a mask there, no problems, everything went smoothly. I would echo what was said above, check descriptions carefully, and if you have questions, ASK the seller (and save the replies!) before bidding on an item.

I have bought 3 items and NO PROBLEMS!!!! 2 masks from 2 different sellers. I also bought a "back up" basic CPAP machine with humidifier for $100(came in handy when I had surgery 3 weeks ago...didn't have to take down my current set-up.) Ask questions of the seller. In my case I wouldn't have bought the machine if it hadn't included the humidifier. It serves my purpose and only had 250 hrs on it.

I, too, have purchased from the auction (4-5 purchases). I've been very pleased with every purchase. However, as with any auction, Ebay, etc., it's a good idea to purchase from sellers who have accumulated positive feedback. I tend to avoid new sellers, since there's much more risk there. Any, like they say, "If it looks too good to be true, it probably isn't." There are thieves everywhere; fortunately, those thiefs represent just a small number of all auction sellers. So, "Let the buyer beware" (or at least be careful).

I have only bid on an item 3 times there. Not sure that I will go back. The first time, a Comfort Full mask-was extremely used, discolored and the headgear very frayed and stretched. I could not use it, not even for parts! Ended up throwing it in the garbage. The second time, I did not receive my item. And after several emails to cpapauction and several phone calls, I finally got my money back. It seems that the seller had quite a little scam going on using several different names. And the third time, it took me 8 days to get my merchandise after paying for it the same day that I won the auction.(And that was from a seller with very high ratings!). So, use your own judgment. I am not sure that I will purchase from them again or not, maybe. It is a great thing for those who have had good luck.

I use it and will continue to use it.

I have won 3 auctions.

First went perfectly. new merchandise exactly as promised. It was shipped expeditiously.

Second was ultimately refunded. A week after sending payment I received a refund and a short note indicating that two auctions had erroneously been created and the seller was unable to cancel the second one.

Third was won yesterday. Payment sent. Hopefully will have a similar outcome to the the first one.

Key read the description and terms, evaluate feedback and decide on your price point. I figure that there is more risk in these transactions so build that into the premium (discount) I am willing to pay.

I don't believe the "used momentary" or "used one night". I classify those as used unless they provide proof e.g. (total blower hours).

I am only interested in unopened, original packaging and am willing to pay the premium.

I have purchased items there AND sold stuff and have so far been satisfied. I have read all of the posts here and have no doubt that some are getting ripped off for there are scum-bags everywhere unfortunately. I take solace in knowing OR believing that there will be a day of reckoning for them for we get out of life what we put into it. Maybe not now but it will happen as far as I believe. Moment by moment we make choices, good or bad and someday they bear fruit. Just my thoughts here.
