Today, I Love my DME...

Post by engrdad » Tue Dec 18, 2007 2:13 pm

Got a call at 12:30pm today from my DME telling me that my APAP had arrived... Just got back from meeting with the RT and have my APAP in hand! Can't wait to start my life as a hose-head tonight...

The RT showed me how to use the machine and even showed me the 'really secret stuff' on how to set-up the machine. As per my prescription, I did receive the 'provider's manual' as well. I was a little suprised that it was only a two-sided card showing the set-up menus. The RT seemed suprised as well. Is there more to it than this? They did not have my quattro mask but gave me a new Respironics comfort-full2 FFM 'loaner' to use until the quattro arrives. Have ordered the Pur-sleep starter pack and the smart card reader... Already started thinking about the aussie heated hose and have not even spent my first night on the APAP yet.

Anyway, I would have never gotten the equipment that I now have and the knowledge to go along with it without the help of those on this site. It is very much appreciated. Merry Christmas to all....

Congrats!

Now the next big hurdle is to get the mask interface to fit comfortably without leaking ... so focus yourself on monitoring your leak data.

Once that is taken care of you can start tweaking pressure (and exhalation comfort options) to minimize your events (AHI) and normalize breathing.

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

The setup instructions are just a two-sided card. There is a larger printed manual, but that card is the IMPORTANT stuff.

Den knows the links to all the manuals. I think they are up there in the red FAQ area at the top of this forums' main screen.

YAY YOU!!!! Good luck!

This will probably help:

global.respironics.com/manualsandliterature.asp

Cheers,

Thanks all... and thanks Babette for the links.

Yes, I was happy to see how easy it is to set up. The RT showed me each step as she set the settings on the machine. It was more complicated to set up my epson printer than the APAP.

Funny... when she first started the machine, it was pretty loud. I asked her about it as I heard it was supposed to be quite. Felt pretty silly when she said that she had not hooked up the hose & mask yet. Makes a difference . Kinda like the '67 Camaro I owned back in high school without the mufflers attached...

Way to go!

If you find you need to keep the air/hose warm, use a men's wool scarf/muffler.

I roll the hose up in the scarf and secure with some velcro straps. If this doesn't work well enough, then get the heated hose.
