Good to the Last Drop (PurSleep)

Post by LukeIamYourFather » Sat Dec 15, 2007 11:37 pm

A few months ago, I got a chance to participate in a Pursleep trial. Much to my surprise, I felt the product helped me fall to sleep faster, and sleep better.

Initially, I attributed that more to masking various smells (CPAP machine plastic, faint tobacco stench from clothes of visitors, and as they say "whatever", than to any "magical" effects from aroma-therapy). Over time, however, I think the plesant aromas themselves, were just plain relaxing.

After the free samples were gone, I actually ordered a few replacement vials, but at $7.95 a pop, I told myself that I probably wouldn't order any more.....

When those vials were used, I decided to "bite the bullet" and not order any more. After a week of being annoyed by various "not pleasant" aromas, I was wishing that I had some, but I was determined to hold out, and save some bucks.

An influx of recent holiday visitors has resulted in some lingering, bothersome aromas that seem to concentrate in my CPAP.

(tobacco related for the most part. Guests go outside to smoke, but the stench sticks to their clothes, and my furniture, causing the house to stink in spite of them going outside to smoke).

These smells were annoying enough that I actually got out of bed one night to examine my Pursleep bottles to see if I could shake out just a few more drops. I discovered that *every* vial had some remaining contents, but the last few drops would not dispense through normal means. I removed the plastic applicator insert and learned that 5 or 6 more drops (2-3 nights doses) could be obtained!

I have since placed an order for the deluxe kit (or whatever they call it), and have enough residual drops to last until the order arrives.

Currently using:
Fisher & Paykel HC640, heated, humidified
Respironics Optilife Mask
Innomed Hybrid Mask (to be used on occassions when nose is stuffed, etc)

I agree...shaking the stuffing out of the small bottles to get the last few drops is nerve wracking! Yet, most of us Pur Sleep lovers know how it goes. I just placed an order for 2 BIG bottles of Clear.

I don't have the bad smells from other peoples habits, I simply like the relaxing feeling of the odor in my mask and soon fall asleep.

Now of Sleep Guy could invent an Essential Oil that would help keep me asleep, say 6-7 hours, I would buy it by the case! I get to sleep with no problem (on most nights) but wake up probably 5-6 times throughout the night and struggle to get back to sleep again. Go figure.

I believe that everybody responds to the use of essential oils in different ways. For some people (maybe like yourself) they do nothing. For others the oils help with therapy. The clear oil for me is refreshing and helps to keep my nasal passages open, and mixed with lavender, it is also sleep enhancing. Give it some time and use only a small amount when you begin, if 2 drops is too much, use one.

I can't smell the odor in my bedroom the next morning let alone in my living room. The oil dissipates quickly and I have to pick up the pad to smell it. Maybe essential oil is not for you?

Quite simple really.....the sense of smell is like the sense of taste, folks have quite different opinions on what tastes, or smells, good.

Funny that you mention using spray "deoderizers" to get rid of the smell of Clear. I use Pur-sleep to mask the smell of deodorizers that my wife uses to cover cooking smells, etc...

Yes, and on top of that our reaction to smell is 100% emotional. There's no way to talk someone into liking or disliking any given smell. "Tastes" in smell are highly personal and variable. Clear is predominently peppermint (real, true peppermint from peppermint plants) and a small amount of lime (real, true lime pressed from lime peels--it's green and smells just like real lime wedges because it's really lime). It's not an "interpretation" of peppermint and lime as you would get with artificial fragrances. It's real, true 100% peppermint with a little lime. The peppermint has enough real menthol (from the peppermint) that it has a nice bite to it--you can really tell it's peppermint. The lime takes the bite out of it a bit--tones it down and blends very well with peppermint.

Similarly Peace is predominently lavender (steam distilled from honest to goodness French lavender flowers and stems, not spike lavender but real lavender that's from a farm in France). It has a very nice lavender smell to it and smells as good as or better than any real lavender oil (or true lavender product) I've smelled. If you don't like Peace you wouldn't like any lavender product on the market.

Spice is made from nothing more than real, true orange essential oil (first press/cut from Italian orange peels) with a little clove (from real cloves from India). It smells like real oranges with cloves because it is made from the part of the orange and clove plants that give off the smell (the aromatic portion). Some people love it; others don't care for it, but that's the nature of aromatics.

I could go on--all nine of the aromatics are the same. I know everyone reacts differently to essential oils but I cannot explain why someone would react so negatively to all of them. Perhaps it's because people are so exposed to artificial fragrances in every commercial air freshener, cleaning product, personal care products, etc. that we're conditioned to the point that those smells are "normal" and natural aromatics are unpleasant? Hard to say--except that there's nothing logical about it.
Try the Scented CPAP Mask with Pur-Sleep's CPAP Aromatherapy--CPAP Diffuser and Essential Oils.
