M-Series vs Non M

Post by krousseau » Fri Dec 14, 2007 1:39 pm

Before I rush out and get a BiPAP. Does the Respironics M-Series BiPAP Auto with BiFlex have any functional differences from the Respironics BiPAP Auto with BiFlex? I'm not considering appearace/weight just function.

I like my Remstar Auto with C-Flex, I have the reader and software, I know it under reports & learning to use the data, my titration utilized a Respironics machine---so I'm staying with Respironics.

Yes-read the product descriptions and I looked at that comparison and knowing as little as I do about BiPAP wondered if I was missing something....again. I am learning on a need to know basis.

The shell on the Classic must be armored then, as it's 1.5 lb heavyier, oh, I forgot that extra two days of data, must add a lot of weight. Jim

The other thing that you may want to look at is what version of Encore Pro do you have?

There are no functional or treatment differences that I've noticed between my two...the classic BiPAP Auto with Bi-Flex and the M series BiPAP Auto with Bi-Flex.

Of my two, the older, bigger machine is definitely quieter. It's the one I use every night. The M is tucked away as a backup machine.

I also have had both. I am currently using the M series.

If I was buying a new one, it would be the old big clunker, just for the humidifier alone. M series drys out so quick. I am probably spoiled, but it is one of those little things that upsets me. Seemed like I only had to refill the humidifier once a week, instead with the M series, it is every day.

Good Luck in your hunt.

doesn't the M series Bipap have on-screen LCD data and all the features added with the M?

The m series will require EncorePro 1.7 or higher.

The classic is very close if not already mfg discontinued.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

Right Snoredog-the classic is not among the products listed on the reconfigured Respironics web site. Bummer, maybe Apria still has an old one-think I'll try to start this moving even without the PSG report as soon as I have the Rx.

Hi K,

On the resperonics auto bipap and m-seires auto bipap you minght want to call the respective reps to find out the version of the software pre-loaded in the machines. The auto-bipap and m-series auto bipap masound the same fucntionately but definately there are diffrences in terms of hardware (controller and blower) and software (algorithms etc). Under normal circumstances the new model usually has less errors. Give the reps a clall and check it out. Keep us in the loop. I am looking for bipap as next move......good luck.
