Hi. Just curious, during cpap treatment what is the desired range of apneas per hour?

The AHI which is a combination of apneas and hypopneas should be less than 5, but most people shoot for around 1-2

Well, the fewer the better, obviously. I think I've heard people say that if you can keep the ahi under 5 you're doing pretty well.

(Of course, my problem with that is I think it may be an over-simplification, because 5 minute-long apneas in an hour is probably still pretty damaging, while 10 mini-apneas which happen long enough to register, but are treated immediately before causing either arousal or O2 desat, probably aren't that bad at all).

Liam, who has more that 5 breathing events per hour when AWAKE.

When I had my sleep study I was at 4.5 per hr. With my first download, (after only two weeks of treatment) they still registered at 4.5. Thanx for the info. What can people do to shoot for lower episodes? (My B4 cpap number was 45.5!!!)
