Hey, all you ComfortGel nasal masks users out there!

Post by MichaelGettel » Sat Dec 01, 2007 5:47 pm

Hello Everybody,

Well, I've had a pretty amazing start to my therapy over the last three weeks. My quality of sleep has clearly improved, but I'm still dialing in the mask....

I REALLY like my nasaI mask, but I've had trouble with rainout (bought the Auusie hose to help) as well as tenderness on the bridge of my nose. My Doc is sending me a ComfortGel to try in hopes the adjustments on the brace will be more comfortable as well as the gel part being less prone to causing condensation (as with the foam rubber interrior of the Flexifit).

What do you all think? Would this be a good second mask to try? I don't believe I could ever do 'pillows' again after my sleep study.

Talk to me! And thanks!

Kind Regards,
Michael

I have found the ComfortGel to be my favorite mask so far (I had the f&P 407 for my titration, started with the Swift I and then the Swift II, tried tha F&P 431 full face mask, the ComfortSelect and the ComfortGel). Based on my experience I would expect you to find the ComfortGel to be much more comfortable.

Best wishes,
Bill

Hey Michael -- The ComfortGel is my backup mask at this point. I started with it and really like it. I also had the problem of bridge of the nose problems - it seemed that to get it tight enough not to have eye leaks it would dig into my nose. I wear padless glasses so they ride right at the same place where the irritation was...It also seemed to ride low and pressed against my upper teeth a bit too much. I have a medium interface and when I get some $$$ (get a job), I'm going to try a small.
My #1 mask at the moment is the EVO Headrest (Aura).....I had the same impression about nasal pillows after my sleep test, but I've found it's the easiest mask for me to use as it really doesn't touch the face except at the nose....I'm using Macks silicone putty to make a good seal, but I really like the mask.....

Good luck in your search for the "Holy Grail" of xPAP!!!!!

cheers
goose

Been using it sucessfully for over a year, it beat my Activa. Make sure you aren't mouthleaking. The part I don;t like about the Gel, is the smell out of the package, and the vent system while it works couldn't be much cheaper. Jim

I would like a vent more like the F&P431, also the Gel doesn't have anything to do with moisture, it's there to improve fit and comfort.

Hey--I have been on the GEL Nasal mask for about three weeks now--I LOVE IT. It comes in all sizes as I wear a petite---fit is great and the adjustable noswe bridge is wonderful--so is the adjustable forehead pad. You will love it --esp. if you are a side sleeper like me. I have had no problems with it at all. Cleans up well--no smell to it and it seems pretty durable--go for it!!
